I spent in Covilha 6 months and I saw a lot of hotel in the city, instead of the fact that my friends and family came to visit me, but at least I choose only this one after discovered.
The hotel is really nice, the rooms are large and spacious. The bed is extra large and comfortable (I am 2 meters tall and I slept into the bed without any problem, it's the first time in my life). Breakfast is very good and full of dishes, the silence in the rooms is assured given of the soundproofing. One of the few hotels in the city having the radiators and therefore a room with livable temperatures.

Its a fine place to rest at nigth. Near the Serra da Estrela, nice accommodations, nice people very friendly and helpfull.
With a bar in the lobby, and an area to seat with friends and have a drink, a computer to access the internet, but have to pay, in general its a very good place to rest with a very fair price.

Easy to find (look for the signs) in this hillside town. Very close to the Mountain Park of Serra da Estrela and handy for day tours of the Guarda - Castelo Branco area. It is an older property with LOTS of free parking (unusual in Portugal). The room was basic, but perfectly adequate, the WIFI worked, and beer in the lobby bar cold. What more could a weary traveller want? And the best part - very affordable if you are on a tight budget.

The friendliness and responsiveness of the staff, combined with a good continental breakfast made the stay here comfortable. When a problem was brought to their attention, they were very quick to respond. They have; however, some rather odd policies that will keep me from returning or referring others to the hotel. First, despite booking well in advance and being virtually the only guests when we checked in, on checkin for a 5 night stay, we were told that we "were staying to long to give us a room on the upper floors," so our view of the beautiful countryside was blocked by an apartment tower in poor repair and strange men staring directly into our room. Second, although we were booked into and paying for a double room, which would imply 2 guests, we were told that the "free internet" was only available for one of us and the other would have to pay for access. This meant that while one of us was working, the other could only stand around and twiddle our his thumbs. The third and forth reasons why I would not return are security concerns. There is no internal security / privacy lock on the doors. More than once we were awakened by someone at our locked door, knowing that virtualy anyone could have opened the lock in the door and walked right in. The other concern was access from the parking lot. There is a call button you must press to request the desk clerk to open the door, whether from the inside or outside. From the inside, this presents a fire hazzard, as it is one of the fire exits. The most shocking thing was that on more than one ocassion, the operator asked for our room number before allowing us to leave the building, but only once was our identity verified to allow us to enter the 6th floor of the building, with all of the marginally secure room locks. Recommendations: request a room on the upper floors but to get one, you apparently can't stay many nights, and if you're traveling with others, know that only one of you will have the free internet access they advertise. And for a secure night's sleep, bring a portable lock for your door.

Room Tip: Don't book more than a couple of nights, so you will have access to rooms on the upper floors.

This was my firts time in 2* hotel after many many years... I needed the room for just one night stay and evertyhing else was too expensive...

Everthing is old, beds are not good, but the receptionist was nice, breakfast was fair... fair service for the fair price... that's more I expected from 2* hotel.

P.s. the view from the 8th floor was very nice!

Room Tip: high floor
