A very ancient and small chapel becomes an amazing spot to listen to Fado and feel the emotions till the limit, thank to the fantactis acoustics and performers. The group of fados àCapella is simply marvelous. The singer Nuno Silva can take the ones who listen to him to a level of enchanted ecstasy.

We understood that complementary drinks were offered, but rather than one glass of port wine as at other venues, a whole range of drinks and even food was served. Our visit unfortunately coincided with a very large group, so the staff spent twenty minutes serving, with the group leader shouting as each different drink arrived. During this time, a random selection of films on fado was being shown in a fairly disorganised way. We were aware that fado in Coimbra is sung by men rather than the women who are most well known nationally, but we were totally unimpressed by the singer, both by his voice and presentation, which lacked any atmosphere, and seemed to be intended to 'please the crowd', ending with audience 'la-la-las'. We also knew that the guitar plays a bigger role in Coimbra, and indeed the Portuguese guitar player was very competent, doing several solos while the singer disappeared behind the curtain. Having sat through the tedious distribution of drinks, we felt the break was totally unnecessary.

My wife and I Loved this place.
Who really did it for us was Sonya, we arrived early as they only open for the dinner show at 8:30.
Sonya took us to the roof, gave us drinks on the house and was fun company.
This old church is an absolute must on your visit to Coimbra, love this town.
The Fado show is great and so is the food
Not 3 star Michelin but ok for dinner show.

This repurposed church has been transformed into a space to hear Coimbra-style fado music with dinner. The space also holds various events.
Having heard Lisbon-style fado music, we were advised to hear Coimbra-style fado music which is sung only by males and is more joyful, optimistic and happy than Lisbon's fado songs. This place was recommended by our hotel and we were not disappointed. The dinner was a set menu of Portuguese cuisine and was fine, the local wine excellent.
The real treat was the fado music we heard, which was marvelous. Very happu to have had the experience.
