Casa Mae quickly became one of my favorite hotels. Upon checking in and enjoying our welcome cocktail (I had a natural Orange Wine from the Algarve), we were given a quick overview of Lagos with various points of interest. We immediately knew we should've came for more nights. After our welcome drink we were escorted to our room, which was a Deluxe. The design and aesthetics of the room were perfect, it was exactly the kind of place I was hoping for. Lots of space, large balcony, tile floors, and lots of small design elements which tied it all together. The shower and bathtub are completely open, so I would note there isn't much privacy in that department.
For breakfast we headed down to Casa Mae's restaurant, Orta. From the fresh squeezed juices to the eggs and avocado toast, everything was super tasty and very fresh. There is a garden on the hotel grounds, so everything you eat has either come from there or a local provider.
Although we usually like to go out and explore and eat at different places, we ended up having lunch and dinner at the hotel multiple times. Everything we had including salads, tomatoes, fish tasted as if it had just been picked from the garden or pulled from the sea.
We also stayed in the Pergola Suite, which has to be the best room at the hotel. It's also the newest. The french doors...Casa Mae quickly became one of my favorite hotels. We also stayed in the Pergola Suite, which has to be the best room at the hotel. It's also the newest. The french doors open to a view of the swimming pool and hotel grounds, which couldn't have been more beautiful. The large king bed was positioned directly in front of it which was a great thing to wake up to. Bathroom was about the same size as the bedroom, a huge bathtub and shower plus plenty of space and natural light. Everything about the room was perfection, which was a good and bad thing since we didn't want to leave!
The swimming pool was great to lounge around and enjoy some cocktails. Very relaxing and quiet, and the hotels soundtrack which plays throughout different spaces was a special touch.
If you're planning a trip to Lagos, Casa Mae is the place to stay. If the Pergola Suite is available, do it!More
