This church is well worth a visit , if in Faro. The church itself is quite stunning , very ornate and impressive. To the rear of the church , through a pretty garden , is the chapel of bones , both macabre and beautiful , at the same time. There is a 2 euro charge.

If in Faro I highly recommend visiting the Carmo Church and it’s ‘Chapel of Bones’.

The church is free and it’s only €2 for adults to go into the Chapel of Bones.

The church itself if spectacular and very peaceful. The decor is stunning. A short walk through the back takes you to the back and into the Chapel of Bones. This is small but fascinating. I wasn’t spooked out and neither was our 4 year old who enjoyed it as a biology lesson!!

It’s well worth a visit - have a look.

This is such an impressive church & well worth a visit if you’re in the Faro area. The church itself is stunning & exceptionally ornate. The entrance fee is very small & more than worth it. The chapel of the bones is situated as you exit the back of the church. It’s quite a lot smaller than I had imagined but it’s definitely a sight worth seeing.

Impressive from the outside, the real attraction is probably the chapel of bones at the back. There is a 2 euro entrance fee.
