Fantastic position overlooking the beautiful sandy beach.
All the staff are very pleasant and helpful.
Rooms are cleared of rubbish daily, towels changed 3 times a week and beds changed twice a week.
A small kitchenette but enough for a holiday as there’s many restaurants close by and supermarkets.

We tried to book a room on the spot. The lady at the reception was wearing a winter coat, because the heating and the lights were turned off. Every question obviously was too much for her. To get rid of us she told us that there were no rooms available at the moment!

Fantastic apts, great view in seafront rooms, situated centrally, I've stayed here several times and have booked again. The pool area on the rooftop terrace is a wonderful area to relax. The reception area is clean and welcoming and now boasts a restaurant with bar facilities.

On arrival we were told the one bedroom apartment with sea view we had booked some 10 months previous was not available and all that was available was s a studio with no sea view. This seems to be a common occurrence at The Algar and is not acceptable, Janet the manager denies this but just read through tripadvisor yourself.

Our fifth visit to Amacao and third stay at the Algar.Arrived Sunday,we had requested a high floor but received room 105 ,which was no real problem as room seemed very similar to the ones previously stayed in.On entering the room we noticed a nasty smell, thought it could be due to not being aired for a few days.By Monday we feeling quite sick so went to reception to explain and hopefully move, receptionist said it was not a problem the cleaner would know what to do,cleaner came room ok for a couple of hours until the smell pumps into the room via large vent in living/kitchen area. The next day we stayed out of the apartment for most of the day,but on return again the warm disgusting smell was pumping into the room,we go in desperation to reception, the lady was very nice but said was not able to do anything as it was seven in the evening, she said we should come back in the morning. The next morning we were again told by receptionist she would send the cleaner,we did try to explain it was not making any difference and we had stayed before and not had this problem, her response was to tell me I was lucky then as the apartments along with the rest of the resort has the problem.Well we feel many things, but lucky...I don't think so.
