This hotel met our expectations, which were a nice room and a lovely breakfast. The bar which we used in the evenings for a drink after coming back from a nice meal /walk was reasonably priced. If we went to the poolside after three o’clock we always got a bed. This hotel is a good twenty minutes from the large beach of Falesia but well worth the walk.

I'm not sure now if it is our 11 or 12 time staying at the Velamar over the past 9 years .
We've seen many changes over that time some good some not so.
Since it became a boutique hotel it is a bit more expensive to stay at this hotel however it's hard to pick faults with this place the staff are very friendly and helpful.
A lovely variety of food for breakfast in the mornings.
The only fault with this place is our room was never done until around 4 every afternoon.
We felt if they just rotated it to one day late and the next day early we would have appreciate it.

What a lovely hotel we loved the style of it! rooms and public areas spotlessly clean, Staff so friendly and helpful and Room lovely, Great bar area with cheap drinks! the breakfast was great and loved being able to sit outside On the balcony in the sunshine with views towards the sea!
Pool area although not the biggest there was more than enough sun loungers for everyone and very peaceful, pool towels provided by the hotel. Great location for exploring the local area we would definitely recommend this hotel!

I and my partner came at the start of September '18, and we were not disappointed. From arrival, service was prompt, and lobby was airy and clean, where all staff were friendly and helpful throughout our 10-night stay; nothing was too much to ask for and they often booked taxis or 'transfers' for us. it was good to know transfers may mean sharing with other passengers but the fare costs less; so thank you for recommending it to us!
The staff also recommended some trips as it was my birthday whilst we stayed; I highly recommend the bengali caves, perfect for a half day trip that leaves your afternoon free.

We visited the bar some of the nights and the drinks always tasted fabulous; the white russian was a particular favourite. Again, staff were friendly here and it was always a tidy and clean place to sit down for a bit. The pool table is a nice addition to the bar area.

The room itself was surprisingly spacious, everything was white and clean and there was never a hair out of place. The bed was huge, at the very least a super king size in England bed sizes. There is a small fridge which had some chargeable drinks and snacks in it, although we bought our own goods to store sandwiches which we would take to the beach. We had read reviews that warned of bedrooms facing the pool of noisy dogs, but honestly it was not a problem at all; my partner is a light sleeper and we had the doors open all night, and even if it got a little noisy we just closed it and that more than solved it.
The bathroom was lovely and there was plenty of space for our items and the shower is quite big. The floor gets wet and slippy easily (a given, since it's a bathroom) it is easily solved by putting down one of the mats provided.

The pool is not massive but a small hotel like this does not need a big one and it was actually perfectly fine and is well protected from onlookers by tall bushes and the hotel itself, and this kind of privacy is something I often look for with hotels.

Breakfast was great. We are big breakfast believers and made use of it every morning (we booked it with b.fast, but if you do forget it is easy enough to add onto your stay). It had an assortment of fruits, yoghurt, meats and cheeses, cereals and some hot choices such as sausage, scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and beans (omelettes can be purchased at additional cost). Both cold and hot drinks are available, including English tea and coffees. It can get busy in the last half of it so I recommend getting up there early (it's on the top floor so provides a fantastic view).

The location was perfect; we prefer local areas which are not heavily commercialised, so it was great to find some local cafes, restaurants and bars literally seconds away in both directions of the hotel. The main strip of Olhos De Agua is a 10-minute walk where more cafes/ bars/ restaurants can be found, including 2 nearby beaches. The best beach is just beyond the Port Bay hotel and Falesia Aparthotel - you literally walk down a long wooden staircase to reach it and it truly is a peaceful beach (but not so quiet you can't run into the sea and have some fun). I equally MUST mention the lovely, lovely man who sells doughnuts and was there every day this year as well as last year when we visited. Plain, kinder chocolate, white chocolate, apple, red velvet, icing... there are dozens of choices and they taste amazing.

One final point about the amazing hotel we stayed in is their attention to detail; my birthday was the last day and we made no mention of this special occasion, other than providing our passports on check-in where I assume they took note of my birth date. When we arrived back to the room late afternoon, there was a delicious chocolate mud cake slice awaiting us with the message 'Happy Birthday' on a plate, a hand-written note from the front desk wishing me a happy birthday, plus a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket with two glasses. I cannot express how much this made my day and we truly thank all staff involved in getting this together!

All in all, this was a spectacular holiday where a huge proportion of that came down to this amazing hotel and its staff. Service is something you remember and, working as a hotel supervisor myself, I recognise their dedication to their role and the front of house staff are one of the reasons we agreed we will be returning to this hotel again. Thank you so much for your time and the hotel was immaculate.

Room Tip: High up floors, rooms racing into the pool.
