Just returned from an 11 night stay, we only had bed sheets changed once in 11 days and towels changed twice disgusting!!!! on arrival everything appeared to be ok until we entered our room sheets and towels looked 10 years old Bed throws were stained mirrors & floor filthy the bathroom was even worse the shower was covered in black mould !
air conditioner not working had to fight to open patio door the cleaner moped the room twice nothing else didn’t even sweep the floors so your feet were dirty as soon as you walked round the room no toilet roll holder towel rail broken , Another disappointing thing was we booked a premium room with terrace please be aware if you stay in room 202 the terrace is the main walkway and you have zero privacy people sat out side your room ! Not good when you have no choice but to have the doors constantly open due to broken air conditioning.
We complained about all the above gripes and nothing was done the issues with this place are too many to mention it’s a shame because it’s a great location but needs new linen and fittings and good house keeping I have never left a review before but had to about this place it’s not fair to take people’s hard earned cash and provide such a bad service.

They advertise snacks available it’s a vending machine ? Also the rooms on the website are nothing like what you get I think the holiday companies should delist this place until it’s bought up to standard.

Think old colonial mansion, wooden staircases, parquet floors and old, heavy furniture in the corridors. A really small, simple hotel one street from the sea, staff were lovely and really helpful, breakfast is on site and simple (scrambled egg, toast, coffee, cold meat and cheese), pool is ample and quiet with loads of loungers.

Not posh, not ‘five star’, not corporate hotel but comfy, clean and so, so convenient!

Mainly couples staying when we were there, rooms a good size and all with air con, all very chilled and low key.

A bit quirky and only a minute from the centre of the old town or the beach, what’s not to like !

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony overlooking the pool.

If i could give less stars i would!! My self and my girlfriend arrived on the first of august 2018, we had booked through alpha rooms! Huge mistake! We had requested a balcony but unfortunately that couldnt be done so we decided its ok its only a small matter. But it only got worse . We were put into a box room that was extremely crampped and uncomfortable. First night in we noticed a light coming from the wardrobe. Upon inspection it was actually a stairs leading into the attic. Yep the attic. When i questioned this at reception they spoke as though they knew no such thing. However when i asked if some one else could emter my room from a seperate stairs to the attic they quickly told me my room is the only one with an attic stairs!. After paying 600€+ we were quiet shocked to be put in a place like this so we began asking for a different room but the male receptionist had no interest in changing rooms for us and keot denying having another room . We continued to ak even when two females were at the reception. They were slighlty more helpful by puttin us in room 201! When you first walk in it looks like a fine room large and comfortable but soon after you will relaize if you have not already smelled the mold and mildew you will see the roof in the bathroom covered! So strong you will want to get sick. This hotel ruined out holiday to portugal and was a pure nightmare . We then decided enough is enough we need to get out of here. This is when alpha rooms became the nightmare . They insisted the hotel were to charge us for two nights stay even though we only stayed one and were in contact the next morning at 9am. They them required an immense amount of proof and after hours of ringing and pleading to get my refund they finally agreed for a small amount of 20€ for next day money return . This meaning i would have my refund or what was left of it on friday . WRONG ! Due to techinal issues they held my money until tuesday and i was leaving wednesday . So from thursday the 2nd until tuesday the 7th i had no money. Infact alpha rooms did not even ask for my account details until monday evening. So if you are looking to ruin your holiday and for a expensive terrible place to atay that looks nothing like in the photos . Please stay here Your welcome.

Room Tip: Never let any one stay in your hotel again . Worst place ever

A cheap hotel in a very good location but what a disappointment. The hotel is very dated with all sorts of cleanliness and decor issues. The wooden floor is coming up everywhere and dangerous. The rooms smell fusty and are not clean - flies swatted all over the walls and old pillows and bedding. The pool area is not clean and only token gestures are made to address the issue. The pool was cleaned on our first day after complaints but no effort was made to maintain the job done by the external cleaning team. WiFi doesn't always work and the electric keeps cutting out. If you are lucky enough to get hot water then the shower worked well. Our double room was two single beds pushed together.
On the second day I asked the reception if I could have a glass to take to the side of the pool for a drink and was bluntly refused "these are for breakfast only" was the reply. How accommodating and helpful!
Save yourself the hassle and book a alternative.

Small and bijou.I cant recommend this BnB enough.Too small to be a hotel and is all the more charming for it.Staff are super friendly and could nkt do enough.A hiccup with our room booking was dealt with sensibly. We booked a Superior Room for our three day stay. The room was being refurbed when we checked in so we had a lesser room the first night. The next day we were given our rooom Room 112 overlooking the Pool and the square. What views. The trade off was that the Mansao Bertolina is located on a height over Bar Street.Music does go on to the wee hours but you are where you are.Dont book in here for early peaceful nights. That being said, dont be put off.Earplugs work wonders.Located by getting to the old square, find the tunnel to the beach (ask anybody)take the left hand stairs up to the street, turn left and walk up the street until you come to it.There is a secret route through Hotel California fdom Bar Street but I will leave you find that yourself
