There is virtually no service, no breakfast and the room was cramped and had no wastebasket. It is centrally located but the parking is outside the walls of the city. No one was there when we arrived and it took a while for someone to come and check us in. Once we paid we never saw another person at the desk. My wife thought some of the people there might have been drug addicts--yes they looked that bad. Anyway it was the only bad place we stayed in Portugal in 18 days there. Luckily only 1 night there.

The room here was small, clean, and quiet. The bed was just so-so. We had a tough time finding the person who ran it. He finally showed up though. Parking was a big problem. He warned us about parking after 9:00 am on the street the residencial is located. So I moved it before that time. But I had a warning ticket on the window of my car anyway. It said the parking on that street could only be used by residents of the houses on that street. There was no warning sign about this in a very touristy neighborhood. And the man at the Residencial did not explain this to us. At least it was just a warning! By the way, we speak Portuguese.

Very nice hotel for the price with a freindly staff. However I can only give three stars due to the mattress and pillow feeling like they were made of tempered steel. Me and my girlfriend can usually sleep anywhere without complaint but I would consider sleeping on that stiff bed and pillow borderline inhumane....again it's a nice place but unless they get new bed furnishings we could not stay there again.

We arrived, expecting to be able to park near the hotel, as indicated in the website. In fact, the nearest free parking was in an informal area, full of potholes, and a 10 minute walk away. When we checked in we were required to pay in cash, despite the fact that the website states that credit cards are accepted. The rooms themselves were tiny and the beds sagged in the middle. They were clean, but in all four of the rooms our party used, the smell of drains from the bathrooms was dreadful. The bathrooms themselves were fine, with plenty of hot water, although some of our group found it difficult to get dry because the towels were so threadbare! On the website it is stated that there is a microwave in each room. We didn't need one, but they were conspicuous by their absence. The staff were friendly and seemed efficient. I would agree with other reviewers that the location is excellent, but we all felt that the hotel itself could be a lot better.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with double beds. They sag and are very small.

We stayed a couple of nights there, and It was a nice experience, considering both the location and the cheap price we paid for it.
The staff was really helpful, and the cleaning was really good,
Won't mind repeating the stay in the future.
