My husband, 6 year old daughter and I stayed at this beautiful hotel in July 2012. The staff at this hotel are very welcoming, with excellent service. The hotel is very charming and decorated very beautifully, with great attention to detail. The room was clean, the breakfast was outstanding, all organic and very tasty and plentiful. The hotel is walking distance to town, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

This was a gem of an hotel with excellent service, food and situation. We, a retired couple, stayed there for 2 nights in late June 2012. We made the reservation on line and typed a mistake in our email address. The staff telephoned us in Canada to correct the error and confirm the reservation. Michele, Ruth and Hugo were very welcoming on our arrival, swiftly handling our luggage and parking the car in the underground garage. Michele gave us cold lemonade to refresh us and was thorough in explaining the town, the sights and how to reach them. Breakfasts were fantastic organic offerings of fresh juices, free range eggs, fruit, yoghurt, meats and more! All service was cheerful and willingly extended. Everything to see in this charming walled town is within walking distance, and the megalithic sights are not far off by car. Our room was large (a free upgrade), bright and extremely well kept. Dinner recommendations were terrific and well-explained as to what to expect, with good suggestions on what to order. We had one lunch in the hotel consisting of an enormous salad, wonderful cheese, bread and olives - cheerfully served at a very reasonable price. We left with regrets, and with thanks for the extra large bottle of water handed to us for the drive ahead. This is one of the most pleasant hotels we have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: They will give you an upgrade if you ask and one is available. Room 19 has a terrace.

Absolutely excellent. One of the best hotel experiences we've had anywhere in the world. Immaculate room, fabulous breakfast, great location.

The staff could not have been any more helpful. Upon check-they spent several minutes making sure we had all the maps and directions to the best sites. We were also offered a complimentary snack. They offered several dining recommendations and helped us with reservations at a truly fabulous and moderately priced local favorite. And upon checkout they offered us bottle water for our trip.

If staying in Evora look not further - stay here.

My husband and I called Albergaria do Calvario at the last minute as the reviews in TripAdvisor were excellent and we couldn't have been happier! We LOVED staying, Got to know Peter and Nina who are the best hosts anyone can possibly have. We loved the way we were received, the most beautiful surroundings, our room was simply the best, the linens, mattress and bathroom were superb. Everything was just beyond our expectations. The breakfast was an experience, beautifully served with all organic food and so well presented. the beautiful orange trees (orange juice is made fresh)....We can't think of a better place to stay in Alentejo and have recommended to all our friends in Portugal as well as in New York. Spotless, stunning surroundings, best location, this is a must even if you only can stay for one night. we can't wait to return.
