The Cellar consists of a bespoke kitchen with tiled granite worktops and includes 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine with a living /dining room, 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite, twin room, single bedroom and a family bathroom and has the benefit of Freeview TV and Wi-fi.
The Old Wine Cellar has a standard occupancy of 7 however we are able to sleep 10 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The price is £20 per bed/per night.
The dining table has seating for 8 with space for 2 extra folding chairs if needed.
It boasts of underfloor heating keeping room temperature at a constant level seemingly setting it apart from the outside world in its own perfect bubble, to be noted that the ceiling height varies throughout the property and in some parts the doors are below standard height.
The property has parking directly outside and is accessed via an external stone staircase.
Grounds include a large playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and a bespoke enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790.
Adjacent the property is a walled Orchard which has chickens, geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep, pigs and meerkats is where Farmer Vic invites guests to help at feeding time and collect eggs from the chickens throughout the year except during the Christmas period.
Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests with top class accommodation, striving at all times to deliver the very best along with giving a unique and memorable experience however we would like to make you aware that approximately 150 metres from the property is a main railway line which for many, especially our younger visitors, enriches the village experience from which it must be said there is minimal sound pollution.
This was our second time staying at Oakerthorpe. We are a big group of 30 adults, 11 children and 2 dogs. We stayed across three of the cottages. It really does cater for us all. The hot-tubs at the Milking Parlours were ready and hot when we arrived. The kids loved playing in the playground, on the tractor and meeting farmer, Vic, who was so gentle and kind in explaining everything about the animals and even let the kids feed them.
Rachel is very organised and made sure everything was planned and pre-paid. There are quite a few regulations to follow, but at least you know what you're signing up for, and it ensures that the place is really looked after and its excellent condition is respected.
Will definitely consider booking again if we have the opportunity. Thank you

Cannot recommend enough
I would highly recommend the basement apartment. I have just returned from a lovely weekend with my family here. The location is ideal being close to lots of lovey towns - we visited Matlock and bakewell. The apartment itself is well-equipped, perfectly clean and has lots of quirky features. We came with my two-year-old toddler and she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to help Farmer Vic feed the animals as well as collect the eggs. This was such a lovely touch. There is also a playpark for young children and a flood lite sports pitch which my husband enjoyed!
Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend and we hope to stay with you again soon.

great place in the middle of Derbyshire
clean cosy and welcoming place to stay with everything you need , in a lovely part of derbyshire with so much to do and see around you .
the staff couldn't do enough to help and the children loved the farm animals, park and joining farmer Vic.
was also lovely after a busy day to cuddle up on a comfortable sofa and watch a film on sky .
really couldn't say a bad thing about the place especially as it is dog friendly so the whole family enjoyed the holiday.

Excellent New Years Gathering
Gorgeous interior, very cosy. Real stone walls, under floor heating and amazing rooms and bath. Very friendly owner and a great location. We stayed for a New Years eve reunion and had a great time. Fridge was a little small for all our food but it didn't impact on our celebrations. Would love to go back. Highly recommended.
