We stayed here for two nights as a convenient place from which to visit the battlefields and Leper itself. This is a wonderful family run hotel. It has only eleven rooms; our room was very large, on the corner on the ground floor with windows overlooking the front and side gardens. The furnishings were period pieces, the ceiling high, the bathroom light, spacious and well fitted. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was immaculate and spotlessly clean. The restaurant's evening menu is limited but the food was superb and the service excellent. Breakfast was extensive, offering a much greater variety of hot and cold foods than we had expected from a hotel this size. Although the hotel is off the main road, which makes it convenient for visiting Leper, the Menin Gate, the cemeteries etc, it is far enough from the road to be very quiet at night. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here as part of our self guided tour through the WW1 memorial sites. This place was convenient to a number of important sites in the area, including Hill 60 and Hill 62, and of course Ieper and the Menin Gate. All of these places were within a few minutes drive.
The hotel actually has a battlefield memorial on site, with some trenches, a bunker and a large crater.

Stayed here as part of a Backroads battlefield tour. The place was amazing, a restored trench system with a beautifully peaceful mine crater pond in the grounds. The room was immaculate, very comfortable bed, great bathroom with a bath and shower and separate toilet. The staff were wonderful, so helpful, the young man looking after the place spent a couple of hours telling us the history of the building even hunting out old letters, books and documents. The restraunt food and service was great, best steak I've had in a long time. Breakfast was great, lovely pastries, coffee and fruit. If you are into WW1 battlefields this is the place to stay, great historic hotel, Hoogue crater and museum next door. I am planning to return next year and will stay here again, can't speak highly enough of this place.

Our last night in Europe before travelling back to the UK. Really fantastic room with four-poster bed, spacious, and well furnished... quiet and spotlessly clean.

Dinner menu small and a little expensive, but well cooked. Breakfast was fine. Service and hospitality good. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Side or back of hotel with view over the garden.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while we were looking around the Ypres area. The hotel was really great for the price. Clean, comfortable beds, large room, friendly staff, free car parking etc. Only a few minutes drive from Ypres which we also enjoyed. Plenty of restaurants for an evening meal, although we ate at the hotel the first night of our stay. The food at the hotel was great, as were the restaurants we sampled.
A must to visit is the new museum in the centre of Ypres, and the Menin Gate ceremony every night at 8pm is a very moving experience. We had planned to find some head stones / memorials belonging to our ancestors, all of which we found. I'm so pleased we went, and this hotel was a great find.
