The local Fire Brigade never misses this - they began in 1928 and have done it every evening at 8pm since then. You shouldn't miss it either. Our group of descendants of the NZ Engineers Tunnelling Company was privileged to be able to lay wreaths during the ceremony - a great experience.

The Last Post ceremony is a must see for those who want to pay their respects to the countless lives lost along the Western Front. Held in the Menin Gate every night at 8:00 pm it is a moving experience and gives pause to the enormity of the sacrifices made by men in the first industrial scale slaughter of the century.

Went twice on a very cold april 2012 night, lots of people there, ceremony was thought provoking. as an ex soldier it does make you think about fallen comrades and the amount we owe them. Go and pay your respects.
