My husband and I spent 2 nights at Die Swaene this weekend. We found the hotel to have everything we would need in terms of a good breakfast, small pool, central location (but not noisy!), canalside restaurant etc. The high point though was the room itself - we opted to stay in a deluxe room in the Pergola, just across the canal from the main hotel (we're talking a minute walk max). The room was beautifully decorated and had 2 huge windows that opened up over the canal, where I spent a good deal of time sitting on the window ledge, taking in the sun, reading and waving at the boats passing by (not the most private as there are a lot of tourist boats, but we found this didn't bother us at all!). We enjoyed breakfast in our room by the canal both days. In addition, all staff we encountered at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a lovely hotel and we will definitely stay there again when we next visit Bruges!

Room Tip: Deluxe pergola room is worth the extra money!

It was a beautiful place, situated in the center of city. We were received by the friendly staff and they helped us with almost everything we required in those two days. Hotel is situated on a canal street and reflects the charm of a European city. Rooms were spacious and cosy, nicely cleaned. Our suite was decorated beautifully. Bathrooms were well in shape. Next morning, we had buffet breakfast, which provided us with good choices. We spent our day in sightseeing, for which we had all sort of help, such as map, route clarification etc. At night we ate at the restaurant, which was the first class experience altogether, be it wine, food or service .. everything was top-notch. I will sure come back to this excellent delight.

My friend recommended Die Swaene to us as I wanted to stay at some beautiful place in Bruges. It was a 3 day tour, my husband wanted to opt for a place which is in the center to everything still should be calm and it was the right place. The hotel is situated across the canal. Reception people were warm and friendly. The room was big and spacious, extremely clean and neatly organized. Antique furniture and interior made all of it very romantic. Next morning – the breakfast was a total treat, we simply loved it. Breakfast room was very nice.
Staff was extremely helpful when we asked them about the city. They gleefully provided us with all of the required information and maps. For lunch, we ate at the restaurant Pergola – wherein the wine list amazed us! The menu was superb – heavenly taste. The thing which took my attention at this place was the car park facility as I was quite worried about it, but it was
taken care nicely. It was most memorable tour – Die-Swaene has made each moment of ours nothing but romantic.

After many years since our last visit we were not diappointed. The restaurant has moved across the canal and it now has a car park which is a bonus in Bruges. This quirky hotal is a joy and the breakfast was one of the best we have come across. The dinner in the Pagoda Kaffee(which is the Hotels restaurant) was a suprise. The menu appeared rather boring but the food was very good indeed and the atmosphere was perfect.

Most people go to Brugge to steep in the architecture and history. The interior of Die Swaene is typical of the town. Lots of wood panelling, painted ceilings, heavy curtains edged with gold braid and a little quirky in places. We had stayed here a few years ago in early January and enjoyed it, so thought we would try again.
We had a room overlooking the canal that gave an excellent view. The downside was that it was a stretch of the canal used by tourist boats and even with the windows closed, it was still possible to follow the boat guides comments. There is also a road in front of the hotel and traffic can be heard. Fortunately, the traffic is very light and caused us no problems.
The buffet breakfast is typical of the European continent so if you are looking for the Full Monty, this is not the place for you. They will cook eggs but that is all. The buffet is more than adequate for most tastes.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. Lieven and Annelies in reception could not be faulted.
There is a small bar behind reception with a limited supply of drinks for sale. You also have a mini bar in your room. As a Scotsman, I should drink Scotch or Irish whiskey, but I don't. I prefer Bourbon and they had none which was a shame.
The drawing room on the first floor is beautiful and spacious and ideal for a quiet time.
The hotel is a very short stroll from the main square and truth be told, nothing worth seeing in Brugge is very far away and can be easily walked, even for someone like me who has a slight disability.
A nice hotel and well worth considering if you are going to visit Brugge.

Room Tip: Might be better to ask for rooms at the back of the hotel if you are sensitive to any small outside noise.
