Ghent is one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in Belgium. The architecture is astonishing without the crowds of Bruges or Amsterdam. The buildings lining the river are outstanding examples of Flemish architecture and more than that, the city’s pace is relaxed and pleasant. This last time I was there it was raining and a bit cold and I still loved walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. Ghent is a must visit while in Belgium.
The highlight of our trip to Belgium, great city center. Our family found it nicer than Bruges. Gets even better at night when all the buildings are beautifully illuminated.
basically you should do a circular walk around
many of the most interesting buildings
can be appreciated from the outside
the architecture & styles can easily be appreciated from the outside
don't miss the canals [maybe a boat ride?]
enjoyable old town
A beautiful town full of interesting sights and buildings. Only stayed one night but will definitely return! Lots of bars, restaurants - easy to navigate on foot but trams are very easy to use - purchase a 3 € ticket which gives 60 mins of travel across all team lines.
