To start off with, a got a very good deal where I had to pay INR 4800 only without breakfast (roughly 65 Euro's) for a night which is not usually the price. It is much higher.

However, the hotel is superb. Located close to metro station and a bus stop it can easily be reached from any part of the city. The hotel is old but grand on the inside. We were allowed to check in 2 hours before time and we asked specifically for renovated rooms as I had read in some of the reviews that they have old rooms which are not good.

We got a renovated room which was big and had a small balcony which oversaw the market below and also a part of the grand palace.

The staff is very cordial and discharge their duties with utmost professionalism. It was very impressive to see this kind of service.

The hotel is a short walk from the grand palace and has shopping malls, casinos and restaurants around it.

The room also came with 2 bottles of water, 2 beer cans and 2 coke cans complimentary which again was a surprise for us.

The highlight of this hotel is the wall of fame displaying autographs of eminent personalities who have stayed here. Just to give a teaser, the list includes Stephan Hawking and apparently Madam Curie and Albert Einstein visited this hotel in 1911 to take part in a conference.

Overall, we had a real good stay. Loved the hotel and its history!

The hotel is quite grand in some places some staff helpful. Rooms decent size nice restaurant. However signs of wear and tear in rooms and in general areas. Some staff not so helpful and slightly rude. I requested late checkout and was told arranged to them find on return was locked out! Wasnt offered to call a taxi was told to just see if one outside I expect from a hotel of this supposed calibre to offer to call one.

I have stayed at the Metropole in Brussels a few times before over the years. I always found it has had better days, but my recent stay convinced me to write a review. Was attending a conference and thought it might be easier to stay there. Unfortunately there is major road construction going on right in front of the hotel, and of course there is no mentioning of this on their website. When I learned at arrival, I asked for a room at least not facing the street with the noisy work. They said they were fully booked (hard to believe looking at the few people at breakfast. By the way, shame that they watered up the fresh orange juice yesterday).
Anyways, back at my room (no215) I was greeted by a kind apology message and some earplugs. Obviously I was not the only one complaining about the noise... And road construction starts relatively early in Belgium as I learned. Nonetheless, no wake up call necessary ;)
If you try to take a shower in the bathtub (no separate shower provided), the whole bathroom will be flooded. If you flush the toilet, stuff is coming up the sink. Simply disgusting.
What can I say? There are so many other options in Brussels. Just check and go for a decent one, at least this is what I will do next time

Perfectly located. Very old and very quaint. Staff very friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms looking a little tired but clean and we'll appointed......we asked to move as we were at the back of the hotel and the room was a little dark. Without asking (or paying extra) we were upgraded to a suite...what a result. Thank you.

Room Tip: Ask for front of hotel with view of outside square

Hotel Metropole is a bit of a veteran - a bit faded and worn, but still something special in an ostentatious, old school, old world charm kind of way. We definitely found it charming.

The location and ambiance are both second to none, the staff is very traditional and attentive, the beds are very comfortable, and the breakfast is quite fine - even though the selection is not immense. And they do not brag, when they promise GOOD coffee.
