Best choice for a business trip. The hotel is very central and is easy to access. It is also close to a wide choice of restaurants for business dinners or for leisure.

Brussels has a bit of an undeserved reputation for being a rather boring city - the trick is to stay somewhere really central so that everything is on your doorstep. In this regard, the Novotel couldn't be more perfect - it's literally around the corner from the Grand Place market square, and you're absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to local bars and restaurants, although this area is certainly "tourist central" so it's worth checking reviews of local establishments before going, as touristy areas are always going to have their share of both hit and miss options. There's a market literally outside this hotel, surrounded by bars and restaurants, and you're a minute's walk from Rue de Bouchers, where you'll find lots to do, including a visit to the famous Delirium Cafe with its huge selection of fine Belgian beers.

If you arrive in Brussels by Eurostar, the station is about 2.5km by foot from the hotel. A taxi from the station costs around 10-15 Euro, otherwise you can get there by Metro.

My room was on the fifth floor, and was a superior room that I'd booked at a special advance rate of around £80. It was spacious and had a sofa and a double bed, along with mini bar, safe, good sized flat screen TV, and a separate toilet and shower. There was free wifi in the room too. Also, quite interestingly, the room had a door closing off the sleeping part of the room from the entry part, which was good for adding additional soundproofing between yourself and the corridor.

Staff at the hotel were friendly, polite and very helpful, providing maps and advice about the area. All in all, I was extremely happy with this hotel.

Brussels was surprisingly good fun and I'm tempted to return with friends, in which case I'd certainly stay here again

Location: The location is ideal because it is: (a) steps away from the Central Station and (b) steps away from the Grand Place/Grote Markt (which also has the visit brussels/tourist info office). There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants right outside the hotel including a Belgian Waffle stand and an excellent Italian restaurant (Pasta Divina) just outside the door.

Service: All but one of the staff members we encountered were helpful and kind. The unfriendly staff member told us to go the tourist office to get directions which is not appropriate given the rating/cost of this hotel. Luckily, the staff member next to him took the time to answer our question. For whatever reason we kept getting only one large towel but they promptly brought us more when we phoned down to reception.

Cleanliness/ Comfort: The room we stayed in (220) was huge and extremely convenient. It had a king size bed, large windows and 2 lounge chairs. The shower and toilet were in separate rooms which is nice when traveling as a couple and trying to save time in the morning. Everything was clean and tidy.

Other: This hotel was much cheaper for us on the weekend than it was during the week.Breakfast is on the expensive side at 23 Euros per person so we did not try it (it wasn't a problem given the numerous places to eat just outside the door).

Spent one night here, wish it could have been more. The hotel was affordable and stylishly appointed. Excellent lighting and the windows opened so we could here musicians playing just a few yards away. Spotlessly clean and included wifi, couldn't. Have asked for more.

We originally booked two adjoining rooms (one for us and the other one for our young children). When we arrived to the hotel, we were informed that there were no adjoining rooms available. After explaining our dilemma, the front desk accommodated us with one of the hotel's suites (ended up paying less). The hotel is in a great location (about 1 - 2 blocks from the Grand Place and over looking a square). In addition, the hotel is not too far away from countless restaurants and stores. The hotel staff was extremely helpful (they provided us with directions and suggestions countless times). One more thing the hotel has free wifi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the plaza.
