This hotel does so many things very well: friendly efficient staff; excellent comfy rooms; great price at weekends.

Nice touches like a laundry room. Bar man who tells you it is actually 2 for 1 at the bar and will bring your free drinks when you've finished your current ones etc

Main gripe - poor soundproofing... I could hear my neighbour brushing their teeth!! Honest! Also the doors are so heavy that everyone slams their doors without necessarily meaning it... These are pretty basic things in designing a hotel. If they'd got this right then 5 out of 5

Hi GM72,

Wow, that is one championship teeth brusher! :-)

We are delighted to hear that you enjoy Aloft so much and have so many good things to share about our staff, the rooms and overall great value, especially over the weekends.

We fully take your comments on sound proofing on board and will see what we can do about it. Luckily we don't hear this comment very often, so it is likely that this is was an isolated event and can be fixed easily. Let's see.

If your travels bring you back to Brussels anytime in the future we hope you will choose to stay with us again.

Have an easy breezy day.

I arrived quite late at night and was looking forward to a good meal - all that was available was chilled food in the cabinet. It was tasty and cheap, but didn't really hit the spot. Breakfast was the same, three items for six euros. The rooms are supremely comfortable, especially the bed. Would have liked the choice of caffeinated coffee in room. We experienced a power cut in the morning, that meant a walk down five flights of stairs by the light of my phone. The staff were extremely helpful though and made me feel very welcome.

Hi spml13,

So sorry to hear that you were inconvenienced by the power cut. It hit the entire city block in which the hotel was located. Luckily we were able to bring our operation back to normal within 30 minutes, however we do understand that carrying your suitcase down the emergency staircase is far from convenient.... once again our apologies.

Knowing that the vast majority of our guests eat outdoors whilst staying with us, we have deliberately chosen for a 24/7 grab & go concept with fresh salads, sandwiches, pastas, desserts, etc. Did you know we also sell some very good pizza's? Our local area has a very large offering of a la carte restaurants if you fancy that instead; our front desk team has some excellent recommendations for you.

Our 6 and 10 euro breakfast packages make us one of the cheapest in town, however we don't compromise on the quality of croissants, freshly baked bread, cut fruit and over 80% of the products that you would find on any other hotel breakfast. Only there you would pay between 20 and 37.50 (!).

Thanks very much for taking the time to share your experience and we do hope you will be back with us soon.

Have an easy breezy day.

I am in Brussels on business almost every week and I love this place.

The hotel itself is new and is located next to the park on Place Jean Rey in the Shuman district of the city which is within walking distance of the EU and a a couple of nice squares surrounded by restaurants. It not in the heart of the city but that has advantages such as the fact that it is normally possible park in the streets around the hotel.

The reception area is hip and trendy. Think polished concrete floors and exposed pipework in the ceilings. It extends back through a lounge and bar area with pool table and a big glass wall looking in to the Wii playroom.

There is a self serve breakfast area (breakfast costs €5-€10 which is the cheapest in the city) which also offers light snacks (sandwiches, drinks etc) throughout the day. There is also a convenience store (which is open something like 8am-8pm) just across the road.

The rooms are modern and have a large plasma screen TV, wi-fi etc etc

But the best bit is the staff. Brussels can be quite a cold city but the staff here are warm and friendly. One night I sat at the bar and practiced a little Spanish with the receptionist. On another evening I swapped stories about Latin America with the barman.

Admittedly Aloft it doesn't have all the trappings of a five star hotel but I don't need that when I am on business. I just need somewhere comfortable to unwind when I get back from a hard day at the office.

Brussels is an expensive city, and now that the EU is back in session, the weekday rates are a little pricey (I was able to stay here over the summer for as little as Eur 46.90 per night!) but there are some good weekend deals. Enjoy!

Room Tip: A few of the rooms look in on each other over a triangular courtyard - ask for another!

Hi Adventura1405,

You review is spot on - thank you!
The comments you made exactly describe what we believe makes Aloft a great place to stay as well. Indeed, I'm personally very proud of our staff who seem to be able to impress our guests over and over again. On top of that we have a fresh look & feel and, important, everything works.

We highly appreciate you taking the time to review us and sharing your opinion with the rest of the tripadvisor world. We hope many will follow.

Hope to have you back with us soon again.
Have an easy breezy day!

I booked a room through Priceline for a few nights in September 2012. Excellent value. The room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. There is free wifi throughout the hotel. The food offered at the property is overpriced and pretty limited. However, there is a grocery store just 75 meters away from the property.

This hotel was very inexpensive and the bed was very comfortable. The room was not cleaned (until we complained in the evening) once and at about 6PM once. We stayed for a week, but I expect most stay for only a day or two because there are no shelves or draws in the rooms and only room to hang up a few garments. The oldest employee seemed to be in their twenties and the hotel seemed to run accordingly.

Now the good news: Free internet, a free fooseball table, a free pool table, etc. make this a fine hotel for those looking for the Ikea version of a "W" hotel (especially if you are young, not too pickuy, etc.). The location is not in the center of Brussels, but a few metro stops away.

So this is a mixed bag and while it didn't meet our expectations of a well run hotel, I guess it was worth the low price and was not terrible either.

Hi Ormont,

Thanks for writing your review and sharing your experience with the world of Tripadvisor - highly appreciated! Indeed, the average length of stay at Aloft is 1.5 nights hence your comments are correct. We do have some rooms with larger storage space facilities as well which we try and allocate to extended stay guests wherever possible - so sorry we could not do so at this time.

Not sure I understand your comments about our young and dynamic team - they seem somewhat pessimistic even though they generally stand in high regard for their service, welcome and can do attitude by most other reviewers. So sorry to hear you do not share this view.

We are of course delighted to hear you appreciated all the free service and facilities offered and hope you enjoyed using them.

Thanks very much once again and wishing you an easy breezy day!
