“Family of 4 on tour - Smartflats Antwerp Old Town 302”
Reviewed 3 June 2018 for a stay in May 2018

The information for check in and how to find the apartment was excellent and easy to follow. Access was via a code so no problems about key collection. The door to the building is down a side gated tunnel which was obstructed by 2 large industrial bins belonging the restaurant next door.

Once inside the apartment building there is a lift to the 3rd floor. The apartment is very big, beautifully appointed and in a great location. You are within easy walk of all sites in the city centre, bars and restaurants and a supermarket less than 5 mins walk away.

Whilst there we had a couple of issues which unfortunately couldn't be resolved and affected the quality of our stay. The apartment door was insecure and the management were responsive to our concerns but unable to fix it. We were offered an alternative apartment but didn't wish to waste time moving between buildings plus the replacement did not have an elevator (3rd floor).

There was a heatwave when we visited and the aparment was extremely hot at night. The mosquitos were a nuisance so we couldn't leave the windows open (our 8 year old looked like a dalmation from all the bites). We requested fans but were told they were on order and not available.

On the upside there are numerous pharmacies close buy and the staff were very helpful in providing advice and treatment for the mosquito bites.

What could have been a fabulous stay was ok. If we hadn't encountered any issues it would have been great. I know that problems arise and the owners/management can't control the weather - but they can provide a method to keep cool inside the apartment.

Once the snags are sorted out I'm sure this will be a brilliant place to stay.
