“Probably a good choice for the area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

Sorry to spoil the party but we really didn't think this hotel was that great, at least, not for 99 euros a night plus taxes. We have had just as good a breakfast in many a 2 star hotel. There was no fresh fruit, croissants were always 'well cooked' and we had to wait until our fourth day before we were offered a top up to the small coffee which was first offered. Our room (20) was a good size but subject to disturbance from the street outside and the guests above. Television reception was poor and tinny sounding but you could get BBC 1 if you wanted it. Bed linen and towels were not changed during our 4 night stay, although I am sure they would have been if we had asked. There were cobwebs above the wardrobe, the floor was never hoovered, and the washbasin shelf and tea making unit were not cleaned at any stage. Teabags etc. were not replaced until we asked and toiletries were never returned to their full complement.
The hotel probably represents good value for the area, particularly for the large contingent of American tourists here, and is certainly cheaper than Amsterdam. Delft makes a good base for exploring the area, has a wonderful transport system to all towns in Zuidholland, and is a civilized alternative to Amsterdam, which seems to want to turn into Blackpool these days.

Room Tip: Ask for everything, don't wait to be offered.

We arrived very early in the morning, having just stepped off on the ferry at Hook of Holland, hoping to leave our bags and explore Delft for a while since we knew it was much too soon to have our rooms ready. We sat in the comfortable lounge and were offered coffee and in just one hour, we had rooms left empty by guests who had departed early. The proprietors went out of their way to make us comfortable and welcome. The rooms, on an upper level in the courtyard, were large and welcoming with good beds. This entire small hotel is unique and there are also two restored gypsy caravans for rent in the courtyard. Breakfast is ample and delicious and the perfect start to a long day of exploring. The location is outstanding on a canal just across from the Nieuwe Church and steps away from the main square.

I can't think of anything even slightly negative to say about our experience and if you want a lovely place to base yourself to explore the Netherlands and see Delft, this is your place.

There is no private parking for the Hotel but a very reasonably priced (7 euros per 24 hours) new underground public parking is just minutes away.

Room Tip: If you have problems climbing stairs (there are no lifts), request a room on the lower courtyard lev...

My husband and I (together with a couple of friends) stayed in the hotel for three nights. The staff were very attentive and helpful, to the point of offering us a coffee the moment we arrived.
The room were clean and comfortable, the breakfast superb.
Good value for money, and two minutes away from the center of town. Will definitely stay there again.

We stayed in the gypsy caravans at the back of the hotel and other members of the family stayed in a double room and also in the family room inside the hotel. The staff were very helpful and courteous from when we first arrived to the end of our stay. The gypsy caravans were a very comfortable and warm experience, the heaters provided keeping out the cold. Our beds and bedding were of excellent quality and servicing of the caravans was discrete and good quality.
Our children particularly enjoyed staying in their own caravan, communicating by walkie-talkie, and did not disturb us (they are aged 10 and 12).
Breakfast was a huge selection and very tasty. Again, although the breakfast was mainly self-service the hotel staff were helpful with hot drinks and refills.
The location was very close to the centre of Delft but was very quiet (we slept well) and gave easy access to the shops and cafes in Delft. The town itself was utterly charming.
The family members that stayed in the main hotel had a very similar experience of the hotel and were equally pleased with their stay, but nothing quite beats the gypsy caravan experience!

Room Tip: Gypsy caravans - a little like the excitement of camping but with all the conveniences of a hotel ro...

Although I might stay in hôtels for 90 nights a year, I haven't often reviewed them on here until recently. The reasons are based on the fact that as a tourguide and tour organiser I am doing this professionally. Now if I am unhappy with the hôtel or restaurant it looks as thought I take people to bad places.
On the other hand, if I think really highly of somewhere, do I want to give away my secrets and also risk finding the place fully booked or with raised prices next time I want to stay there?
I suppose I should take the chances.

So; I have stayed here twice now, once in a caravan, once in a room in the main building. I had a friendly welcome and clean acceptable accommodation. Parking is an experience but once installed the location could not be bettered.

Yes when I return to Delft this will be my first choice.

Room Tip: Wide range, so look at the choices. Do not stand up suddenly in the caravans, you will bang your hea...
