Love Giethoorn lodge. The grounds are full of flowers and fruit trees.
The owners, Bert and Marie, are the best hosts in the world.
House was immaculate and the rooms were so comfortable.
So peaceful and quiet. Had a nice patio with table and chairs.
That's where you would find us most mornings and evening.
Bert gave us a tour of Giethoorn by boat. Very informative and such a great guide.
Gave us ideas of where to eat and places to visit.
Marie was a wonderful guide during our stay. She should be a professional guide.
The town itself is just so darn adorable. Side trips are a must.
Go see the tulips and visit the orchid farm! You won't be disappointed.
Staying at Giethoorn lodge was the best thing we have ever done.
Go see for yourself.
Thank you Bert and Marie for a trip we will never forget.
Missing our little "Sanctuary " already!
Bert and Marie were wonderful and made us feel at home. Directions were exactly like Bert had given. Marie welcomed us and showed us around the house and had a map of the town, which was very, very helpful. Loved the honey - thank you. The house is a very nice house and anything we were looking for was there - very well thought out and organized. The bicycles and the boat were very useful and very nice of them to have this for the guests. The location was also a great location. Very peaceful. Nice to take a short bike ride to the town for grocery. Thank you so much Bert/Marie. We will be back :-) - Jaya & Ravi
The lodge was very nice, just outside the bus 70, owner was very friendly and helpful, and gave us recommendations on which places to visit. The house has a fully equipped kitchen very useful for families to cook. The old town at north of Giethoorn was quiet and nice, we really enjoyed our stay.
The Giethoorn Lodge is very comfortable and has absolutely everything you could need for few nights stay, or longer!
The Lodge is its own building next to Bert and Marie's house with a lovely outside sitting area right next to a canal.
The bus stop is only two doors down and only a few minutes drive to the shops and the tourist area of Giethoorn where you can get canal tours around the village to see the beautiful canals and canal houses.
There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes there to eat, there is even a 2 Michelin Star restaurant right across the road from the Lodge called De Lindenhof.
It was very clean and has absolutely everything you could need. We traveled with our 1.5yo and the house was very suitable for a child.
We hope to be back again one day.
Ok, so this is a little late...I meant to do it a long time ago. I can't imagine how to write this review to make it rise to the level of how we felt. We decided we wanted to see Giethoorn after reading a few descriptions of it. There were four of us taking a tulips themed (mid-April)cruise out of Amsterdam. We planned a quick few days at Giethoorn Lodge. Not really knowing anything about the area, we reached out to Bert and Marie a few times before our arrival....they were so helpful. By the time we got there I was already very comfortable with them.
Giethoorn was even cuter then all the things we had read or any of the photos we had seen. The house was exactly as described but had an even warmed feel then could have been relayed in words. The property is something out of a story book.
I would say that by the time we left, Bert and Marie were friends of ours.
If you are even close to that part of Europe we highly recommend experiencing it for yourself...you deserve it.
