Description: Every season we have a different menu, with home made products like typical Belgian pates, pies and parfaits. Inspired by Belgium’s diversity, we invent and create our dishes. We put traditional Belgian products such as parsnip, purslane and chicory back on the menu.We also embrace the rich culture of Belgian beers. As a reward for our love of the combination of beer and delicious food, we had the honour to receive the Bier and Gastronomie award 2009, a national award for restaurants that combine different beers with good cuisine. Every time we review our menu, we put a lot of effort into finding the perfect combination for each dish.

When you're after nice food and nice beer, we think this is the place to go.
We like the "baroque" style that allows you to pick several starters & mains & desserts of which they then serve small portions each (check website for more info). The beer course to go with it never disappointed us.
We've been in this place more than a couple of times over the years (and still we say we should go here more often). The staff has always been very friendly and knowledgeable.

We were a group of 7 so we tried the tasting menu (11 starters/15 main/9 desserts) and we didn't choose them, we got surprised. The food was absolutely amazing, and it was great having different choices. The dishes were large- more than enough for everyone. The only slight negative was the service.. it was slow. We got to the restaurant at 8 and didn't make it out until 12. Coffee got cold by the time the milk got to the table, and the waitresses' forgot some of the drinks. Overall a great restaurant especially for a large group.

We arrived at 2000hrs and the main was served 90 minutes later. The steak was cold and inedible, this after the starter which was not accompanied by the promised wine. The pate was served without bread which is unheard of...
The wine that came with the steak was served 15 minutes before the steak arrived. I've had better meals at Sizzler for a fraction of the price.
The saltimbocca was terrible...it tasted cheap and the mashed potatoes were cold.
They over promised and under delivered! I will NEVER go back #nast

We really enjoyed our meal at Lieve. Good Belgian food either a la carte or tasting. We did the tasting and it was tons of food! Loved the atmosphere. Was a great way to start our Amsterdam adventure. Would recommend!

We arrived in the evening without a booking, and we were welcomed to sit in a seating area, before being seated at a dining room table. Our hostess explained how the restaurant works, where you could either go ala carte, or opt for their Barok taster menu of 10 dishes (3 of them were desserts). Of the 10 dishes, there were moments of genius, such as their goat's cheese creme brulee, or beer cooked chicken. All of the dishes follow very much in Belgian traditions, but add modern twists to classic dishes. A great way to experience Belgian cuisine, and not a million miles away from Dutch cuisine, so a great Amsterdam experience.

My partner and I do not drink, but they pair the various dishes with Belgian ales, so there is a beer tasting menu to accompany the Barok taster menu, which only adds €15 per head more to the bill.

As we din;t drink much alcohol we opted to not have the beer accompaniment, but I am sure it would have been well paired.

The bill for 2 including drinks was only €77, which is excellent value given the number of dishes, the quality of ingredients, and the clear passion Lieve has for modern Belgian cuisine. A definite food highlight for our visit to Amsterdam.
