This hotel is brilliant.

Very clean, staff are extremely friendly and they have an amazing 24/7 snack bar at reception.

Very good spa also.

I would recommend staying here while visiting Amsterdam although it is about a 20/30 min tram or bus journey to the centraal station in the middle of Amsterdam city centre.

We visited Amsterdam for a week and Mrs Lep with her eagle eye for comfort, location and ease of use chose the Corendon Vitality Hotel. We arrived hours before the due check-in and were able to leave our bags in a security hold in the reception area.

The helpful man patrolling the reception area directed us to the tram stop nearby and consequently we didn't lose a minute of touring. Later, he helped us check in on the reception area computers. Have no doubt, the Corendon is a non apologetic No-Smoking Hotel. There is a €300.00 fine for smoking within the hotel building and if you persist you will be asked to leave. A smoking area is provided just outside the main door of the hotel. In fact, you can smoke other than cigarettes there too.

Our room was comfortable and supplied with a kettle, some coffee and tea. A television was there if you needed to watch tv. The bed was comfortable and large and plenty of pillows were supplied. There was no difficulty reading as natural light came through the large windows. The curtains were thick and if you needed total darkness even during the day, then all you had to do was close them.

The reception area is comfortable with enough seating. Thee is a "bazar" on the ground floor where you can purchase soft drinks, crisps, snacks, even a cooked pizza. You can purchase tickets to most museums there too and the helpful workers there will advise you on all you wish to know. The ground floor restaurant Cor & Don's is probably run separately from the hotel. It is good and you can have good food at non expensive prices up to 5.00pm. From 5.00pm you can have dinner there at good value prices. The food is excellent and well presented by friendly staff. You can order until midnight.

Back to the guy patrolling the reception area. A more friendly man never existed. He knows everything about Amsterdam and shares this information with anybody who asks. He is efficient, well dressed, friendly and could be described as Google on Legs. I don't mean that in an unfriendly way. He is dynamitely informant and loves to share his information.

You could leave the front door of the hotel and walk to the tram stop and be in the city centre within 25 minutes easily. The museum square is on the way so you have no problems visiting the Rijk and VanGough museums. The main shopping area of Amsterdam on the tram route also.

The Corendon Hotel is in the suburbs of Amsterdam. The nearby railway station will have you get a train to Schipol Airport within minutes. Bicycle Lanes criss cross Amsterdam and even the suburbs are well endowed for cyclists. Motorists, tram drivers, bus drivers, pedestrians, cyclists share the roads and it appears they respect each other's entitlement to road space.

Amsterdam is a busy city and The Netherlands has a population of 17M. Visiting the tourist sites, taking canal boat trips, walking and hopping on and off trams and buses takes its toll. An end of day rest in the bar of the Corendon is refreshing and relaxing. The food is good and the staff friendly. A fitness area with swimming pool is provided for a nominal extra charge. Also, women have exclusive use of the fitness area at specific times during the day.

Certainly, we recommend a stay in the Clarendon Vitality Hotel.

Dear Leprosy,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review.
We are glad that you appreciated the option to leave your luggage at our luggage store while you were able to explore the city centre already.
I will forward all your compliments regarding the helpful man at the reception and helpful workers of our Bazar to my colleagues. Besides that I will inform our Restaurant and Kitchen employees that the food was excellent and well presented by my colleagues.

It is right that tramline 2 takes you all the way into the city centre of Amsterdam and passes by all the highlights, including the Museum Square, Leidseplein with Hard Rock cafe and Dam Square. The final destination of the tramline 2 is Central Station.

We would love to welcome you back some time.

Kind regards,

Although this hotel is not in the centre of Amsterdam, it is easily accessible by using Amsterdam’s excellent tram service. The tram stop is a five minute walk from the hotel itself and the service is extremely regular (around every ten minutes). I also liked that you could buy travel cards from the reception (I believe we bought a three day pass which was relatively inexpensive and definitely worth it). As we arrived earlier than check in time, the hotel allowed us to store our suitcases while we went out and explored the city which was extremely helpful. Check in was quick and easy using the machines (although there were people on hand in reception to assist if needed). The room itself was spotless and the beds were comfy. You can also access Netflix on the televisions (providing you have an account) which we did when we got back early one evening. The food which you could buy at reception seemed expensive so we didn’t buy any so can’t comment on that. Overall, would recommend this as a relatively inexpensive but nice place to stay in Amsterdam.

Dear Ami,

Thank you for sharing your experience.
We are glad to read you had a great stay with us and especially loved our custom made Corendon beds.
You are correct that we do sell the GVB tickets for one, two or three days. With these tickets you can travel around in Amsterdam by metro, bus or tram.
When arriving early at our hotel, we have a luggage store where you can leave your bags while you can already explore Amsterdam.
Of course it is also possible to leave the bags upon check-out for the day.

We hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.

Kind regards,

I think I got lucky with this hotel! Reasonably priced but packed with amenities. The hotel is fabulously modern and is just a short walk from the tram; it’s a very quick tram journey right into the heart of Amsterdam. Hotel offers a range of room service foodstuffs, and breakfast was a banquet! Will definitely be staying here again when I’m back in Amsterdam!

Easy to go to by train and metro, just a minute walk. Good service with checking in and out. Nice facilities, for example a spa and soperb WiFi. On walking distance to the Slotervaart Hospital and National Cancer Institute. Clean handsome rooms with nice shower. Restaurant is also worth visiting. Splendid breakfast.
