Description: Pier 10 restaurant, just behind the Central Station, is an Amsterdam gem overlooking the vast, busy sweep of the River IJ. Built in the 1930s as a shipping office, Pier 10 is now a beloved, intimate restaurant of two dining rooms, one with direct views of the IJ. The ambience is relaxed and casual, with plants and candles but no white tablecloths or plush upholstery, and yet it is as romantic as it could possibly be. Note that there are two sittings, so the second might be the more romance-inspiring of the two, depending on sunset, moonrise, star alignment. The international menu ranges from classical French and typical Dutch to creatively international with a few Asian influences. Menus change every two to three months. In warm weather, a few tables make their way onto the pier itself pure bliss.

It is best to make a reservation as the restaurant is small. It is located behind the train station and a little difficult to find, but worth the effort. This hidden gem is nothing to look at from the outside. The food and service are excellent. If you are lucky, you might get a table in the back room which has an excellent view of the water and the barges passing by.

My wife and I were invited to this restaurant by my colleague in Amsterdam. The restraurant is very conveniently located - very close to Central Station, with a great view over the waterfront. We had seasonal seafood, and it was excellent, especially scate. The wine list was fairly short but we ordered great New Zealand white wine. Good service. Not cheap but fair prices. Definitely recommend to visit.

This great little restaurant is hidden away at the rear of Centraal Station next to the pedestrian and bicycle ferries that shuttle to and fro across the water. From the outside it is easy to walk straight past without noticing but once inside the restaurant is divided into two main rooms. The first you enter is on the street side but the rear room looks out over the water and offers a grandstand view of the ferries and barges sailing past.

The menu itself is small but delicious with a good selection of meat and fish dishes but no vegetarian, though there are vegetarian starters available that you can ask to have as a main, as we did for one of ours. Our other main dish was the lamb which was very tasty and came with a huge serving of steamed vegetables and pan-fried potatoes.

We didn't have room for a desert after out main course. However, the teas and coffees we did have were served with a small selection of sweets and biscuits. The service was very good. I would suggest booking this restaurant in advance as it is quite small. However, it is easily booked through toptable.

Can't say anything but positive about this restaurant. The french style food is great, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is lovely (more adapted to a romantic dinner than for business). They don't take credit card though. I would go there everytime I need to travel in Amsterdam I think. This is really a hidden jewel as other say.

Like the previous reviewer, I was a little wary as this place is literally right out the back of the station. Don't expect smart dining, the restaurant is very casual (almost cafe like), but the staff are friendly and the food is good and reasonably priced.

We had starters of crab cakes and cheese parcels, then mains of tuna and shrimp, and lamb. All were good and came with potato dauphinoise, salad and ample steamed veg.

What really makes Pier 10 fun though is if you can get a seat in the back room with a view of the harbour. There are 5 or so tables against rounded windows that look out over the water. Even at night it's an interesting view watching the ships and ferry's passing by.
