Four of us (husband, daughter, grandson and I) stayed for four nights at this lovely b&b in July and regretted we could not have stayed longer. The b & b is like a private apartment consisting of a huge studio room with kitchenette and balcony, a second double bedroom, bathroom and toilet, in a 19th century house. The rooms are beautifully decorated with carefully chosen furniture, rugs and paintings as well as original period features (ceilings, fireplace, wooden floors, etc). Everything is spotlessly clean. Sonny (the co-owner with Kevin) is the perfect host and serves every morning a scrumptious breakfast in your own private suite. The b & b is a perfect combination of having your own spacious private apartment with the services (breakfast, cleaning) of a b & b. It is highly recommnded, particulalry for a group of four people.
The location is perfect in a quiet residential area away from the tourist crowds but only 15 minutes walk to the main sights walking along lovely canals. The area (Plantage) is beautiful with a lot of greenery and canals, near the zoo and botanical gardens. There are a lot of good local restaurants where you feel like a local and not a tourist. Particularly recommended is Pizza Bakkers which has authentic pizzas, probably the best in Amsterdam, as well as the ice cream shop near the zoo.

This bed and breakfast is great! The room was huge, not far away from the center of Amsterdam. The owner was reallly nice and always available. Breakfast was amazing and it represented the perfect way to start another day. Bed and bathroom were perfect! I reallly suggest this place to stay in this beautiful city.

This place was great to stay at. I stayed in 2003. At the time there was only one room available, the other was under construction. The owners were very helpful with directions on how to get to the B&B and how to get around the area. It's a pretty quiet area but close to the subway system which doesn't take long to get to the downtown square. From what I remember there was a children's school behind the B&B - was surprised by the school bells. The breakfast provided was also very nice and made to order. Loved that! I would definitely stay again! -- and loved the steep staircase, added to the Amsterdam experience.

Room tip: No need for concern over the rooms - they are very well kept!

If you are going to Amsterdam, this is a perfect place to stay. If you are going to attend a seminar at the university, this is absolutely the place to stay. You are so close to the campus, in a really nice neighborhood with nice restaurants . You have an entire apartment fully equipped and the best breakfast in town!
This is also and excellent place to stay, without going to the university, the Metro is a few minutes away and three stops you are in the center.

We adore Amsterdam, and this was around the 12th visit from my partner and I. We have slept in nice hotels, not so nice hotels, some Bed and Breakfasts, all unique and enjoyable in their own way, however, Dumas and Considine bed and breakfast was by FAR the very best.
In true Amsterdam style it has a steep staircase, which leads to a really clean, comfortable and homely bedroom, with a nice bathroom and great shower attatched. The suprise however is all in the wonderful second room, which really isnt a room at all but a lovely bedsit! It has a fridge, microwave (and other cooking options) a sink, tea and coffee making facilities at one end. The other half has a double bed, then a sofa, table, and television (with DVD player). Its all perfect when you return home from a busy day walking or cycling the city, its definitely a home from home, with grand ceilings and wonderful wooden flooring, and even a balcony that you can stand on and take in the view. (Not really at all like my home, much grander). There has been alot of work put into making this Bed and Breakfast not only look amazing, but able to cater for every need one would have whilst away.
Kevin is wonderfully knowledgable about Amsterdam, and very welcoming, his breakfasts are amazing, and he even went to the trouble of making us a 'takeaway' breakfast when we were leaving early for the airport, which was so appreciated.
This really is a perfect retreat in which to stay, and we couldnt have asked for more, perfect for couples but also for families too, we will certainly be back for more in the future. Although its a little way away from the central area of Amsterdam its easy to find, and in a wonderful area, very quiet, yet lots to do around, as its close to the University, a cinema, and the theatre.
