I would like to recommend the Hotelboot Iris.I stayed for the weekend 2 weeks ago,and found the experience just fine.I had a single en suite room ,which was immaculate. The breakfast was great, lots of choice, and unlimited coffee.I have stayed on a few of these converted barges in Amsterdam,in the area of oosterdok. The Hotelboot Iris I found has that wee bit extra. From the friendly welcome, that a family run business exudes, A nice chilled out upper deck seating area, lots of Informative advice. Its a great location too, near centraal station and handy to the city centre and very peaceful to sleep which is important for me as I am a light sleeper

Room Tip: My single en suite was nice and quiet

This hotel is a boat that during the winter season stays in place to accommodate travelers. Good location, very close to the Central Station and walking distance from Dam square. Small rooms and therefore affordable, good price, but in fact pretty much has all the facilities needed for a city trip. In the rooms right next to the staircase even the wifi meant for the public areas works.

The bathroom is rather tiny, but unless you have any significant physical restrictions, this shouldn't be a problem. It is a real boat after all.

And finally about the staff, they were excellent and super friendly. Especially the young guy who started work there in November was extra helpful. He even booked our Van Gogh museum tickets with his own credit card since foreign ones didn't work.

Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms 5,6,7,8 are nearby the staircase I think. The wifi is meant for the public areas, but I think...

Nothing to complain about except the WiFi which will be easy to fix in the future hopefully.. Other than that great location, great staff, lovely breakfast and a very resnoable price. Any time I am back in Amsterdam I will go there for sure.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What hotel boat Iris offers is the experience to wake under the waterlevel with maybe even some swans passing by your window. From our ship you can see central station which is only a 15 min walk along the dock. We are also 15 minutes from the red light district which has a lot of bars and other nightlife. Behind our ship there is also a stop for the canal-bus which can take you to the centre and the Rijksmuseum in a very relaxed way. Included in staying with us is free coffee, thee and choco all day and you can also freely take from our fruitbowl and cookie jar. In the morning we serve breakfast with several types of cheese, meats, muesli's bread type's and spreads, and also Milk, orange juice, bacon, boiled eggs and scrambled eggs. You are also welcome in our lounge where we serve beer, wine and softdrinks. In het public area's we also offer free wifi. We have to warn you about the fact that the data is limited to 50 mb's per item per day because we don't have a landline and have to rely on an expensive 4g network. If you need more you can buy this from our provider. The good thing about a small hotel like ours is that we can offer a much more personal service then the big hotel's in the centre and do it a much fairer price then them. ... more   less
