“Superb accommodation in fantastic location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

We arrived at the B&B on Herenstraat unsure if we would be staying there or their other site only yards away on the Single. We were met by Vlad a most charming and accommodating host who took us over to the Single where he showed us round their fabulous house and to our truley wonderful room, with a really comfortable bed. Breakfast was served between 9 and 11 where you could have as much or as little a you wanted of the typically Dutch breakfast. If you wanted to eat before 9 then the kitchen was open 24 hours for you to raid the fridge/larder and just do it yourself. Should you not wish to eat out in an evening there was a second kitchen to heat or prepare your own meals/snacks. Then you could sit in the very comfortable lounge looking over the canal and watch people glancing in at you as if to say those lucky people living there. A lovely holiday

Amsterdam was our last destination on an 8-day holiday to the Netherlands. I chose this B&B based on the reviews and I was not disappointed over our 2 night stay. The place was far better than the reviews suggest and the space we got blew us away for the money we paid. Probably not a place for the less mobile as there are a lot of stairs although the owners did help older residents with luggage while we were there.

The B&B was only a short walk (ten mins or so) from Centraal station. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner (I think Vlad) who was friendly and gave us lots of information about local restaurants et. When he opened the door to our room it blew us away - we had a large and bright lounge, a large and very modern bathroom (with shower and bath) and a neat bedroom at the back. This was far more space than we expected and exceptionally good value for €125 / night in a very central locartion. We were also told to make full use of the kitchen area where breakfast is served. The rooms had wifi too.

Although you can venture further there were some great restaurants on Herenstraat and we chose two for for dinner over our stay. Both were great. Breakfasts were excellent too with a great spread of food and another chap, Milo, on hand to serve us and assist with any queries.

Overall a fantastic place to stay and we will return when we next have occasion to visit Amsterdam, We were even able to leave luggage here during our final day.

We loved our stay here. We stayed two nights. The room was very clean and modern. the location is perfect. It is convenient to the train station and there are loads of nice shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The breakfast was very good and the hosts are very helpful.

We stayed at Maes B & B with three other friends and loved it. Vlad and Ken were charming and more than helpful. A fresh, fantastic breakfast was provided each day! The rooms were lovely, clean and quiet. A great location, easy to get to the trams, Centraal station, the museums and cafes. Although we didn't use it, we also had a complete kitchen at our disposal if we wanted to cook, make coffee and keep beverages cold. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
