Owner description: Tucked away just off Spui, this delightful collection of houses arranged around an open court is well worth searching out.

You will not just stumble across the Begijnhof. It is a small courtyard or part that is really accessible to the houses around it. You can gain entry via a small passageway that cuts though the surrounding buildings.

There is a small church also in the courtyard, but it was not open to the public. One claim to fame of this area is that the oldest building in Amsterdam is here. Truly the architecture of Amsterdam is unique and here you can see it close up without all of the noise and bustle of the open streets.

A little quiet oasis in the heart of Amsterdam, once in the grounds it’s hard to believe Kalverstraat & Rokin are just a stones throw away. Due to lack of time did not spent enough time in the area & missed the wooden house, next time we will give it more.

You're floundering in a steady stream of pedestrians and bikes in a busy part of central Amsterdam, and then....you walk through an archway into another world. It is a medieval courtyard -- grassed and paved -- and surrounded by tall houses, two churches and a lot of history. Don't miss it.

Worth a short stop when shopping or visiting the centre of Amsterdam. Jst pop in and out to feel the atmosphere. The part you can visit is very small as parts are reserved for residents. Not easy to find as only one entrance from Spui

It is not easy to find the entrabce from the Spuiplein. Once found and entered you forget all the husle and the busle of the city tranquility takes over in a small peace of paradise in the hart of the city.
