Owner description: Tucked away just off Spui, this delightful collection of houses arranged around an open court is well worth searching out.

It is not easy to find the entrabce from the Spuiplein. Once found and entered you forget all the husle and the busle of the city tranquility takes over in a small peace of paradise in the hart of the city.

A nice peaceful place. It has 2 churches in the middle of Amsterdam, you won't believe how quiet it is here. The big chruch has English services.

The entrance is a simple door with a sign announcing times it is open to the public. Once inside, it is quite peaceful and charming. Beginning in the mid-1300s, it was a residence of Catholic lay women who performed good works, and today it still houses only women. As others mentioned, because it is still a residence, the public is asked not to make videos or take photographs.

We visited the Begijnhof Chapel on the Feast of All Souls' Day and were grateful for the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. There are daily Mass times that are posted. On the left of the chapel, there is a mural depicting the Miracle of Amsterdam - beautiful story.

Its a little hard to find the entrance to this little area. Once inside, you'll notice that people actually living here and taking pictures are not recommended. The oldest house in Amsterdam is the one with the little black door. Spend few minutes here to appreciate the history and move on.

You will find the calmness and peace in this place which is made up of a large garden surrounded by small historical houses and a church. If you are in Brugge go there and spend half an hour, then when you go out the second door of the yard you will find another beauty, "Minnewater Lake".
