“Nice stay with Great staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2012

The first thing about this hotel that comes to my mind is SERVICE!
With Hank's personal supervision and service - you can't miss... We've booked for 3 nights, enjoyed the city,,, Hank was extremely helpful in how to find good places, checked for our well being daily and gave many tips on bikes,Museums and places to go and see.

There are also discount tickets for some places at hotel that worth checking out.

Also the hotel itself isn't new and the rooms is a bit small for my taste, but it is well kept and good daily service compensates for that minuses.
The stairs are steep as told in other reviews... try to take 1st floor... :-)

All in all it was a positive experience with superb service and very good location.
I've never seen hotel manager so personally invilved and attending his customers needs in the way Hank did.
A+!
Will go there again,,,

We had a long weekend in Amsterdam and decided to book the Hotel Zandbergen after reading a few other reviews and doing the usual homework.
The first thing to say is that Henk and all his staff were extremely polite and helpful, and always seemed to have good advice for any issue or question we had about the city. It was my wife's birthday and they also provided her with some flowers and a nice bottle of drink which made the stay even more homely.
The hotel itself was good - we had opted for the larger apartment, and the rooms were comfortable, well serviced and clean with daily maid service. The decor is a little dated so if you like your surroundings a touch modernistic you may be disappointed, bit there is free wireless available, and Henk also tells me that an extensive re-furb will be carried out soon. There are some steep stairs to negotiate, that are typical of the city - something to bear in mind.
Breakfast was of the basic cereal/croissant/ham and cheese variety, but all perfectly adequate and with the staff's personal service in evidence.
Location is just south of the main city, but very near the main museums and walkable. There is a tram stop just by the hotel that is very convenient and will take you into the city if you forget your walking shoes!
All in all, a nice stay with the type of service that you would like to have everywhere.
I look forward to staying there again, particularly after the re-furb. Recommended.

Zandbergen is a hidden gem. Small, located in a quiet neighborhood just outside the Vondelpark and 3 blocks away from the Van Gogh Museum. Family managed, what you find here is not commom. Cosy atmosphere, competent people, decent price in a fair and nice room.
A good breakfast, tram right off the door, the only con is the stair... oh, the stairs in Amsterdam...
But I would come back many times and, if asked, would recommend for all my TripAdvisor friends!!!

This time chose to tag a family trip onto the back of some business meetings. This was largely due to Henk's advice a year ago enticing me back with visions of a long weekend with kids. Following 1/2hr trip in on public transport from airport, the hotel accomodated our family of four in the bright and airy penthouse flat. This was a fab base to repair to after long days exploring the city. Comfy duvets, widescreen tv, kitchen and shower room all fit the bill. After fortifying hotel breakfasts, we'd set out from the nearbye tram stop to visit the museums and child friendly attractions. The hotel staff are all amazingly helpful and local eateries they suggested were complete winners. I highly recommend staying at the Zandbergen when visiting for business or as family.

This hotel is outside of the centre of Amsterdam, but it is very easy to get into town with the frequent tram 2. Very friendly people in charge who bend over backwards to help you enjoy your stay. The single room was quite small but fine, though the sink in the shower was a bit of a squeeze. Breakfast was good with a range of fruit on offer. Good value for money.
