I honestly have no idea how other reviews said this place was clean. I have stayed in budget hotels and hostels all around the world (20 countries) and this was by far the nastiest, dirtiest place I have ever stayed in.

To start off with, it is in a shady area of Amsterdam, though it is convenient by tram. It was easy to find, and we were buzzed in fairly shortly after we rang to be let in. The check in area is tiny. Teeny tiny. Our room was past the check in area, so anytime we came and left we had to squeeze by them, if there was even room.

We walked to our room and noticed that all luggage storage was directly in front of our room (and the other 4 rooms around there). There was no one watching it, so if I wanted to steal anything it would have been very easy. DO NOT PLAN TO LEAVE YOUR BAGS HERE.

Inside our room, I was completely disgusted. It was filthy. The front desk had told us "Smoking is forbidden in you rooms, this is very important". Well, our comforters were filthy (actually covered in dirty) and covered in cigarette holes! There were spiders and other creepy crawlies throughout the room, cobwebs everywhere, and the shelf in it was covered in dust. The carpet was coming up all over the room, and was literally taped back down with lime green tape. Needless to say, the carpet was the dirtiest carpet I have ever laid eyes upon. I never walked on it with bare feet.

The bathroom was also very dirty. It had a certain grunge to it that I just cannot put into words. The shower did have hot water, but the water pressure was so low I could barely wash my hair.

This was the worst I have ever been ripped off by staying at a hotel. It was seriously gross, and I would honestly suggest just sleeping on the street before going to this place. It was terrible - do not give them your money!

Good budget hotel. Nice location. It was well secured with cameras on each floor. We stayed in a ensuite room on the third floor. Room was big enough and clean. Bathroom was clean. Rooms are not cleaned everyday but we only stayed for 2 nights so it was alright. Tram stops are nearby. quite close to the centraal station. Staff were very helpful. No wireless connection on the third floor. Overall it was alright.

Me and my friend were on holiday in Amsterdam and stayed in Euphemia 31st of October to 6th of November in 2010. We had a private room for two in the first floor. The room was big enough for the two of us but closet space was too small and the stench in it was truly awful. We couldn't put our clothes there so we kept them in our bags. It was ok after we got over the stench :D The room smelled a little damp but we got used to it quickly.
The worst part of the room was that the window didn't close properly - glad there were iron bars behind the windows. We had hot water and were warm at night, and our stuff was safe - that's basically only thing what we expected beforehand so we were satisfied. I probably wouldn't stay in this hostel second time but it was ok for the first time.
Tram stops were close an it was easy to get anywhere in the city - e.g. just few minutes to the city centre.
Room was clean and staff was very helpful and spoke very good english. Breakfast was served every morning and it cost additional 5€.

We stayed here as part of a 2 month tour of Europe. The hotel is quite old and expensive for what you get compared to other hostels we stayed at in Europe.
We were on the top floor and the stairs were steep with small steps not the most pleasant time trying to carry all your suitcases up there.
We had a 3 person private room and bathroom. The bathroom was good size however the room was old and had a huge whole in the wall that had my friend stuffing her towel in so no bugs could come out. There was a beam in the room which caused issues when sitting up in bed.
The location was OK. Close to the Heineken factory and walking distance to all the things you needed. The bus stop was across the road with cafes around the corner.
Reception were OK, not overly friendly but answered our questions when we needed.
