“Will stay here always!”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

Love this hostel! It provided me the everything I was looking for when I booked Amsterdam. Culture - you're close to everything and in the heart of the red light and coffeeshop districts. History - on the oldest street in Amsterdam. Tours - free 3hr walking tour which is done by a freelancer and in my experience, was amazing!
The rooms are cozy and large enough with lockers (and when there wasn't enough for me, Klim offered to keep my things either behind the counter or they could give me money each day for a locker in the public area - so helpful!)
The staff were friendly and gave good advise!
Super close to the train station too!
Only thing I would improve is perhaps hooks for clothes and towels in the bathrooms/shower rooms, and by the beds. Also, reading lamps would be useful by the beds so we don't disturb others when we want to pole around our stuff. And possibly more electrical plugs for the dorms - with 8 people trying to charge phones and computers, it can get a little crazy trying to get access to the 1 outlet, Hope this helps!

Room Tip: Just be aware that the hostel runs down an alley - I sleep like the dead, so it didn't bother me...

The atmosphere is great, the price is good too.
As the bedrooms go they aren't exactly luxury; but they are clean, and comfortable enough to sleep in (I was in a Shared room with bunks).

Room Tip: best for group bookings

St. Christopher's is in a great location in Amsterdam! You can walk the whole city from this location. It is a short walk from the train station as well. The rooms are very simple - nothing fancy. We had a private bath which was nice and very small. It is very loud at night but they provide earplugs. We didn't even need them though because we were so tired from walking all day long! The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful as well. If you want a great location and simple quarters, this is a great place to stay!

This place is right in the action. If you want to be close to everything this is the place for you. However, bring your earplugs if you ever want to sleep. This is noisy section of town. The hostel is pretty clean. The food is Great and Affordable. The Burgers were Awesome. The Staff are friendly and helpful. They have small to mid size locker near the reception desk (kinda Small) Internet reception was poor! My one Complaint was that out of 10 days we were only able to connect 2 times!! Breakfast in the morning was simple but good. We were pretty comfortable here for 10 days. We would go back for sure!
My Average mark for sleeping is because of the noise levels.. but please NOTE you are in the red light district and its going to be noisy.

It's difficult to review this hostel, where to start? on your arrival you have to leave your luggage on a locker (a very expensive one) until 3pm, no matter if the room is already vacant or not. Once you get to the room you will be amazed with the smell of the place, seems that was never cleaned before, the rooms are dark and the bathrooms so small! but the worst part will be without doubt the bed bugs! we found them on our last night, I found 3 on my bed and my friend find one on hers. You may think, well, a couple of bites from this insects couldn't be that bad, but the bad part is that because the rooms are so small our luggage was on the floor all the time and seemingly those bugs get into our luggage and they traveled back with us ending at my home, when we where back we start to get bites and there we discovered that because of that dirty hostel we infested our home with bed bugs! was horrendous to wake up having visible bites all our bodies and to have to face our colleagues at work asking what happened with us!. In order to have the apartment treated we had to spend 360 euros on the pest control company, plus we had to put all your belongings in bags, removing the carpets, electric sockets and furniture until the treatment was done, as the bed bugs are very very difficult to kill and they could spread to others apartments. Imagine to be the one that bough bed bugs to your building and be the one that infested everyone houses! After spending hundreds of euros and having no social life for several months, we still suffering the consequences. All this thanks to the most dirty and horrendous hostel in Amsterdam. I will never go back there and I recommend to everyone to stay away of that dirty place.

Room Tip: Warning, the rooms are infested with bed bugs!
