“Great location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2011

This hotel is in agreat location, only minutes away from Rembrandt Square which is fab for drinks in the evening or if you prefer the bright red lights then they are only a few minutes walk away too!
We stayed in a room for 4 people and it was pretty basic to say the least, it was an odd shape too which meant that one of the beds was situated around the corner from the other three. It wsn't a problem though as we really didn't need to watch each other sleep!!

If I were to go again I'd request a room facing the canal as the rooms at the back have no view at all.

The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and i'd definitely recommend the Nes if you want a buget hotel in a central location.

Room Tip: Request a canal view room.

We stayed in the Annex building in Room 11 which is around the corner from the hotel. We had a great view over the canal and the room was much bigger than the rooms in the hotel building.
The room was very clean, two huge windows, chairs, table and very spacious for Amsterdam. The guy who checked us in was very helpful.
The bathroom looked newish and the only downside was sometimes there was a smell from the drain in the shower.

It's a small charming hotel right in the heart of the city within walking distance to all popular lociations. we've stayed in the canal room which was very basic and small only with a bed and a dated bathroom. Even a chair with a small table would make a big difference but I understand that there wouldn't be any room for that. If you're looking for a place just to have a warm and clean bed and a roof over your head-this would be a perfect option.

duration of stay: 3 nights

+ well located (2 min walk to the rembrandt plein, 5 mins to the red light district and 10 to the main station)
+ clean and tidy

- very small room
- only a window on the inside of the building (ventilation shaft)
- no free wifi
- no parking (we used park+ride at the olympia stadium (eur 8.00/24 hrs, includes public transport to the city centre) which we do highly recommend, if no car is required)
- breakfast not included (extra cost: eur 10; we had breakfast in nearby cafés for between eur 7.00 and 8.00)

No air conditioning in the room, if you give up air conditioning, sleeping with the window open subject to noises of the night, cars, people, if you give up the carpet in the bathroom when you leave the shower wet, if you not care to a old lady charging the coffee voucher at the breakfast in a bad mood ...room is very small, barely fits two people and two bags, if you don't mind for all this above, this is the hotel, so expensive for what it offers.
Location is good.
