My wife and I have been fortunate to travel the world, staying in some of the most unique and historic lodgings, so to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary we set the bar very, very high. Ambassade exceeded our dreams with its wonderfully restored buildings, a fabulous, historic location and a thoughtful, generous staff.
What makes Ambassade unique? Name another hotel in the world that has a library bar filled with more than 4,000 first edition, signed books. Thanks to a longtime association with the city's publishing houses, Ambassade hosts authors from across the globe.
Not only are the rooms set in buildings that date back 400 years, but they are modernized to the latest desires without sacrificing the special history of each of the houses strung together into a magnificent hotel. We had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms overlooking the glorious canal below and each had the history of the home showcased on the wall. Such attention to heritage and detail is one of the many things that set Ambassade apart.
Perhaps most important the Ambassade catered to our every need, and even greeted us with a bottle of wine and a congratulatory note from the staff. The street where Ambassade is situated, Herengracht, is one of the most beautiful in all of Amsterdam, and the staff of Ambassade reflect the same inner beauty.More
