Very small room, and they didn't vacuum clan the room for my entire stay even if requested, 15 euro/ day for the Internet connection is something incredible nowadays for an hotel in an European capital.

Ok hotel good position rooms small, overpriced and to make it worse the cost of Internet use was extortionate, when all good hotels are offering interment free. The connection equipment was worn and did not stay connected. 15euros is far too much for 24 hrs with 7 euros for 1 hour. Use a cheaper hotel and get Internet free.

Room Tip: Ask for an inside room much quieter

I searched long and hard for a good rated hotel in amsterdam and believe me its a nightmare, I didnt want to be in the red light or dam square but neither did i want to be out of it all, i found the eden to be perfect its a 10 or 15 minute walk from everthing in a nice quiet area by the amstel canal, next door but a few to ice bar, opposite a theatre and market, bike hire and a hundred yards from a tram stop although i never used them it is far too nice an area walking round the canals and markets. our 1st room was very small open the door and hit the bed jobbie it was 2 singles pushed together to make a double i complained and had the room swapped to a far more spacious double. the hotel has free wifi down stairs, lifts and we were allowed to check in at 10am which was great, the rooms were clean and had a proper bathroom with shower and bath. i would stay here again and reccomend to a friend. dont have breakfast i think they wanted 25 euro it is readily available for 5-8 euro anywhere in the city.

Room Tip: make sure you get a double if you request one as they may try to fob you off with 2 singles pushed t...

I travel widely and have stayed in hotels in expensive cities round the world like London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong etc, so I know a thing or two about value-for-money in relation to both quality and location. Never, however, have I see such a mis-match amongst these factors as in the Eden/Hampshire Amsterdam at Rembrandt Square.

I shared a room with my brother who was in Amsterdam on business. Thankfully his company was paying the bill because at €200.00 per night (not including breakfast) this place is an utter rip off. The public areas are fine, if cheaply appointed, but the hallways to the rooms are low-ceilinged and grey giving a claustrophobic, dimly lit institutional ambience akin to a Soviet prison c.1970. The room was small and poorly appointed with 2 twin beds with 6 inches space between them, soft cheap, sagging mattresses, no wi-fi, brown stains on the grey carpet (a stunning colour combination) and a tiny TV fixed with brackets to the wall. The bathroom was OK but was glass walled, facing into the room. Not ideal when sharing with someone. I don't want to see someone else shower and use the toilet, with only their mid-section obscured by a thin panel of frosted glass. The room is poorly soundproofed, as evidenced by the fact that we could hear late night revelers bringing the party back to their rooms in the wee hours.

I understand that there is a shortage of hotel space in the central areas of Amsterdam and that supply and demand means that prices tend to be on the high side. This place took that principle and stretched it to the point of indecency. The management ought to be ashamed.
