Very efficient, polite & helpful staff top to bottom. Casual atmosphere was great unlike some "high class" hotels. The newspapers, drinks & snacks in the lobby (Living Room) were a nice touch along with the minibar in the room (all included). The included breakfast was very good from cooked to order eggs, to cold meats, cereals & breads. Another nice touch is free wifi & use of the hotels iPad's at no cost. They also have 2 computers in the lobby area. The room was average size for Europe but well equipped & comfortable. Road noise was negligible with the hotel design. Location was very good. We walked to all major sites within 30 minutes. We recommend this hotel without hesitation!

Dear guest,

Only reading your heading gives my colleagues and me a feeling like we have achieved a goal. We have made your stay one to remember! It is amazing that you have enjoyed all the features of our “home, away from home” concept; the complementary drinks, both in the room as in our Living, the use of iPads, Business Centre and the “Live-cooking” Breakfast restaurant!

Thank you for recommending our hotel to others, we hope we can welcome you (and your friends and family) again in the near future!

With sincere regards,

Nancy Doodeman

For a recent 5 day stay in Amsterdam, we were choosing between this hotel and the Ambassade which also gets great reviews on TA. I thought I would like the location of the Ambassade more, but we finally chose the Banks Mansion. It was perfect! While right on the corner of a somewhat busy street, you still get that peaceful canal feeling, and we thought the location was excellent for all the things we wanted to do. In fact, we never even took a single bus, tram or taxi during our time in Amsterdam.
The rooms at this hotel are lovely. We had a spacious, canal facing room on the corner of the 3rd floor. The views were great, and it was well soundproofed. The bathroom was modern with a great shower (could use a little more shelf space in the bathroom; our only complaint). The housekeeping services were excellent and the room was always extremely clean.
As others have written, this hotel offers complimentary beverages and snacks every day (including minibar items). This is nice for several reasons. It's great to always be able to grab a cup of coffee or a soda or water at any point during the day. But more importantly, the late afternoon "cocktail hour" was really a treat and made this hotel very unique and special. After a long day of sightseeing and walking, it was incredibly relaxing to sit in the hotel lounge/lobby enjoying their beverages and wonderful cheeses, breads, and nuts. (to say nothing of the free wifi and iPads available) We often sat there for an hour or two before betting ready for dinner! We heard many languages spoken and the feeling was very friendly and pleasant.
The staff is wonderful at this hotel. They gave us good restaurant recommendations, and were always ready to help with directions and other information. We liked the fact that there were always 2 or 3 people at the front desk so there was never a wait.
If there were any negatives, it was that the pillows were too hard and there is no turn down service. (they have a "pillow menu," but it never worked out for us.) Minor things.
You will be very happy staying at this hotel!

Room Tip: Loved facing the canals corner room was great for views.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for the extensive review on your stay ! We are glad that you have chosen Banks Mansion and that we have made your stay a successful one!
Although the street before the hotel is somewhat busy, this means that your are in the middle of the city centre where everything happens. It is a great pleasure that this proximity of great hotspots has been a good thing for you!
It is also great to read that all aspects of our “home, away from home” concept were so appealing to you! The complementary drinks in the Living as well as in you private mini-bar, the cheese table with local en foreign cheeses and sausages in the afternoon, the usage of iPads, free high speed wireless internet and the great Living Cooking breakfast restaurant. It is unfortunate that the pillow of the pillow menu did not work out for you. We will take this comment into consideration when we update the pillow menu! Thank you for that!

We are really happy that you have enjoyed your stay at Banks Mansion and thank you again for the lovely review. We hope to be of service to you during you next stay!

With kind regards,

Nancy Doodeman

From first walking in the door, to checking out of the hotel...I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly, always asking if the room is ok and if there is anything they can do for you. Everything is free...movies, minibar, alcohol in the room. In the lobby they have a coffee machine, 2 fridges with sodas, still/bubble water, beer and wine. During the afternoon, they put out a spread of cheeses and crackers. Very nice.

I rented one of the 2 suites and I think I had the best room in the entire hotel. It was room 406, however the room was not numbered like the other rooms. You see the signs for 404, 405, 407, 408, etc, but this was simply called "The Suite" (see pic). The room was sectioned into two parts, the living room and the bed room. The living room had a couch, 2 comfy chairs, flat screen TV, DVD player with surround speakers and a desk/desk chair. The bathroom was off of the living room. It was very modern and beautifully done. A stand alone shower and a separate bubble bathtub with nice his and her sinks. The bedroom has a comfy king bed with a pillow menu of many options depending on how you sleep. There are a total of 4 windows in the room that open all the way so you can look out and enjoy the canal and street.

The location is great, you can walk everywhere from the hotel. The train goes by the hotel as well, so easy access, but you can't hear the train from the room which is great.

Overall, this was a very nice hotel and the only place I'm staying when in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Stay in the suite! It may be more expensive, but you won't regret paying the extra cost.

Stayed here for 1 one night on a business trip and enjoyed it. Found it through Tripadvisor & booked on Hotels.com so had a good deal, and being on Herengracht it is very convenient for 2 client offices, and pretty much everything else in the city centre.
Staff friendly, room clean, free snacks in lobby were welcome after the flight, and while I appreciated the free spirits in the room I didn't partake.

Room Tip: High up as the road & canal outside can be noisy

We found the Banks Mansion through tripadvisor.com and loved the hotel. The staff was very attentive, the rooms were generous, and we loved the breakfast. Also, we couldn't ask for a better location. We would definately stay at the Banks Mansion and compliment the ownership for their wonderful establishment.

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the canal.
