We were a couple staying in the Mercure hotel this November. Upon arrival we were told that they could only offer us a room with 2 single beds, and we had to argue for our room a bit. Anyway, the rooms were OK, a little outdated, but I guess for the money you're paying you can't complain. Overall it takes about 20-30minutes to get to Amsterdam Centraal, it's around a 10 minute walk to the station. The hotel was in Overmastel, which was not a very nice area, felt very deserted & a little bit like a ghost town. There were no shops or food places at all in the surrounding areas; the hotel had its own restaurant and little shop, however I'd highly advise to get food from elsewhere, as a packet of crisps were almost 4euros. Overall, I doubt I would stay at the Mercure again, as I now know Amsterdam much better. One good point was the sauna, was a nice place to unwind; however the lockers didn't work & the jacuzzi was empty.

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel 3 nights in november in order to attend a congress organized at the Amsterdam RAI.

Staff: very kind and available, they also sell tickets for the metro which is handy (paid 17 Euro for 72 hours pass). Taxis are always waiting outside the hotel in case of need

Room: i had a standard room with a double bed. It was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. The wardrobe had enough space for my clothes and the bathroom was spacious, clean and with enough lighting

Catering: I only had breakfast included in the package. The breakfast was of an international type, with a good range of food and drinks to choose from.

Location: the hotel is located in the southern part of the city, 5 - 10 minutes walking distance from the "overamstel" metro station, which connects directly to the RAI congress centre (only 1 stop) and the city centre. However if you are looking to stay in a central area or to have a nice view, this hotel is definitely not the right choice.

Overall: as stated in the title, this hotel is definitely a good choice when travelling for business reasons (especially if you are going to attend an event hosted at the RAI). It has all the required comforts, and an easy access to the metro station. However, I would not recommend this hotel for a pleasure holiday or a (long) weekend in Amsterdam, as I would opt for something more central

Be careful what you pay for as we paid for a double bed and they given us two singles and they won’t do anything to sort this problem out even shown them proof showing that we booked double and they won’t change it this is the last thing we need after travel all day and the staff are very rude about sorting this out

Recently visited here with my wife. Had zero complaints. Staff were great and professional. Hotel very clean and well looked after. Only thing is when booking this hotel we was under the impression that it was close to the centre of Amsterdam, which to be honest it wasn't! Having said that it wouldn't stop me staying again if you want a taxi take an uber they are miles cheaper and a lot faster!

Unfortunately prepaid online reservation-hot box as no cold air. Room temp in 90’s even with the window open. And it’s in the 40’s outside?

Rooms are very small as in crackerbox style.

Could not sleep - and, due to business conference limited hotels available.

I would not recommend.
