This museum gives you such wonderful insight into the life of the artist. Be sure to book your tickets online and print them out if you can. I don't usually bother with the audio guide but this one was essential to fully appreciate the exhibits. Don't miss this when you're in Amsterdam.

The fact that the museum was severely overcrowded pretty much ruined our visit. Even with a timed entry system, there were too many people, making it very difficult to get close to many of the paintings.

The museum was not just display of his work. It was so much more to help you understand Van Gogh and his work.
Don’t miss this wonderful museum.
We bought a “skip the line” tour worried wasting precious time in the long line, but there were no one in the line on a Monday afternoon in mid September.

Plan ahead and by tickets well in advance.
Our audio guide tour started at 16.00 which is to late (closed at 18.00) Could not finish all we wanted to learn about. Show is good and well presented.
A little confusing though- no "correct" way to go around this show. So our tour was a confusing one! Going from one period to another in random order.

Nowhere else on this planet are utterly unfriendly staff members allowed to deter elderly or business travellers like here. First of all tickets are only sold online. IMHO opinion this is discrimination against senior art Lovers or all those without internet access for whatever reason. This is the opposite of inclusion! Next, neither are business travellers admitted who simply have no other possibility than to keep carrying a (small) trolley. And this all for safety reasons. Come on, do you think that in other cities big museums do not have to take appropriate, but socially adequate steps against terrorism? No lockers are offered, simply no admission. Oh, and no tips how to handle that situation either. And when you buy your (expensive) ticket online, you do NOT receive any info about that "approach". When you have the time to walk around and ask friendlier people you may find out that the Van Gogh Hostel nearby happily stores your unadmitted items for a (small) fee of 5 EUR. Last observation: is it really in Theo´s sense to make this Museum arguably the darkest cave of paintings on this planet? If I were Dutch I would consider legal steps against this museum´s Management. As a visitor you will see me never again!
