I booked a twin room overlooking the garden at the back which I thought would be almost as nice as the ones on the website that overlook the Amstel River. However, the single beds, which are quite small singles, weren't that comfortable. The room wasn't as big as the ones pictured on the website (and I couldn't find any mention of these other rooms on the website). The toilet was so small you could hardly move and although there was a tiny handbasin with a tap that was so close to the wall you could hardly turn it, there were no paper towels or anything other than toilet paper to dry your hands. The bathroom wasn't luxurious!. A shower over the bath with a plastic curtain.
There was free tea and coffee in the kitchen but we had to go and ask the management to turn the dish washer on when we ran out of cups etc.
The stairs were steep which we knew about but the automatic lights in the stairwells weren't functioning properly and we had to negotiate the stairs in the dark.
I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you can get one of the rooms overlooking the Amstel. Not sure if those ones had shared bathrooms as well.
It is located in a convenient area for walking and sightseeing.More
