We were amazed by the friendliness of all reception staff. The décor of the entire hotel is rather outdated, and the bathroom of our room could use a serious cleaning session to get rid of some mouldy bits. In general everything was clean. Breakfast was ok. We liked the location smack down city centre / walking distance to a lot of bars and restaurants. We appreciated we could park the car at a very affordable EUR 17.50 per day and rented bikes for EUR 10.- per day. Everything considered we would recommend this hotel as it is a great value for money.

Room tip: A large number of rooms face a blind wall.

Myself, husband and mother in law stayed for 2 nights last week as my stepson was graduating from the local university. We received a great welcome and the staff were lovely. The main area downstairs is very modern but as you go up to the rooms it seems dated, having said that I think they are having renovation work done. The bed was the most comfortable one I have ever slept in and the pillows were just as nice, wish I could have brought them home. The breakfast was brilliant, plenty to eat and again the staff were great. It felt very relaxing and would defiantly stay there again.

Thank you for your kind words, Amanda. I'm glad that you and your family enjoyed staying in our hotel so much. We are indeed renovating; at this moment the bathrooms. The rooms have been renovated a couple of years ago, however not all furniture was replaced so I can understand your point of view. How fantastic to read that you slept so well and like our breakfast. Many thanks for the compliments about our staff. I hope it felt as a home away from home, as that it what we all try to give our guests. If you ever visit Groningen again, I hope to see you again. Have a great weekend!

Best regards,
Alex Kaminski - Hotel Manager

Real friendly staff who always try to make you feel welcome. The Rooms are just right for the short stay, with suitable Ensuite that has all you need. Overall all very clean, Breakfast has all you could possibly want and more, a great variety to choose from. Value for money considering you are close to all amenities.

A good, well positioned hotel with plenty of nearby places to eat and drink. Well-mannered and helpful staff. Decent sized rooms with air-conditioning and free wifi. Would recommend. Walking distance from the railway station (about 10 minutes).

My wife and I stayed in this hotel June 4-9, 2018 while she attended and academic conference at the local university. When we arrived, we did so without our bags, because the airline had lost them. The staff checked us in gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and meal even though their restaurant was closed. Plus they gave us some tips on where to shop locally to get clothes to wear until our luggage was found and returned to us. That was fortunate because after 20 hours travel from Los Angeles to Amsterdam to Groningen we were getting rather ripe!

Our room was comfortable he appointed, because we were so far north, the days were long and we needed darkness to sleep. The curtains were very big and kept the light out during the night.

The city of Groningen is a delight! It is a small town in North East Holland, surrounded by canals with cobblestone streets And buildings that date back several hundred years. At the same time it is growing and there is a mix of new buildings going up harmoniously with the old buildings. Thus the town won’t die.

Room tip: I would rate service, sleep quality and Rooms highly but the app that I am using doesn’t allow me to update
