I stayed at the Mercure hotel for one night. It was pretty ok, a standard Mercure hotel. The room was a bit too small in my opinion but it was nicely decorated. Everything was very clean. It is located a bit outside the center though, you either have to drive or to take the bus. Nice staff. City tax of 3.5 per night per person is a bit too much for a city like Groningen though, especially if you pay some 60 euros for the room for 2 persons and then still have to pay 7 euros extra just for one night! Parking is available at an extra charge, as everything in the Netherlands…
Also charging some 16 euros for breakfast on a mercure hotel is a little but to much I think.
So overall it is a nice hotel but with a lot of hidden extra charges.
