(First off: This review is about the original "Cucina" at Luisenstrasse/Langstrasse near Limmatplatz, not about their new subsidiary at Kasernenstrasse.)
If you want to eat a really good pizza in Zurich, don't bother with any of the "Italian" restaurants in the old-town or at the lake side, the pizze and dishes of the restaurants there are average at best.
The original "Cucina" is an Italian restaurant with a familial, authentic ambiance, located near the northern end of Zurich's most lively entertainment street. In my view as a local, they make the best pizza in town, particularly the pizze "Del nonno" (with shrimps and spinach), "Italia" (with mozzarella di bufala, rucola, pomodorini, olio di tartufo) and "Pazza" (with prosciutto crudo).
The other Italian dishes are tasty too, though there are a few, even better hidden Italian fine-dining restaurants in Zurich that cook with more finesse.
Service is kind and they always try to find an empty table for you. Mind though that this restaurant is very popular with locals, a reservation for dinner is almost mandatory.
(BTW, if you are more into minimalistic pizze, you might want to give the restaurant "Rosso" near train stop "Hardbrücke" a try. There, the ambiance is more industrial/hipster-like and the service can be a bit snooty, but they make good pizze too, particularly very thin and minimalistic ones)
