This is a classic restaurant serves traditional food with a modern twist, in an elegant (first floor) dining room with well spaced tables and outstanding service. We were a group of five and our meals were excellent with most of us choosing the eglifilet (perch) which were delicate and delicious. The deserts were wonderful, so make sure you leave room for some, as well as the chocolates offered afterwards. When we visited there were only locals, and the venue is just lovely. It was the perfect choice for our last meal of the trip.

Have eaten at this lovely, traditional restaurant perhaps a dozen times over the space of many decades either as part of a large business group or with my spouse. Each time the refined, but not fussy, atmosphere, the excellent traditional food and the service impressed. Located in a former guild hall, the building and the restaurant have a long history.

I was very admired with a decoration of this restaurant. It’s classic and bright. Service is impeccable. All staffs are well trained and professional. The way they serve is excellent.

Food is very good even breads and butter are very nice. This is my first time we finished all bread and butter. I think they are homemade. Main dish and desserts are perfect. Wine is also very good.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

We went to have lunch there with some family members visiting from outside Zurich. Again, we were not disappointed and our guests were delighted about the food, atmosphere and the personal attention of the host, Mr. Wimmer. An Austrian who knows to give his guests the feeling of being welcome; attentive but not overly so .... Our recommendations for a typical lunch in the Waag would be the sliced veal Zurich style with rösti (some kind of hash browns but crispy) or the Wienerschnitzel (thin veal with crispy crust). They serve daily menus as well like fish etc. All plates were very nicely decorated. Prices are okay, as everywhere in Zurich on the higher side...

We were a group of four friends going with the intention of having the veal Zurich style with rösti and we were not let down by the food. It was excellent, if maybe a bit small portion. We were however let down by the service. For a place like this you expect them to be very professional, but we were on several occasions overlooked in favor of the tables around us. The food was served before we could order the wine and we had to demand for refills since they were not attentive enough and did not leave the bootle on the table.
We were sitting outdoors on the square, just opposite of the Fraumünster church, which had a nice scenery. At seven o'clock however the church bells started to ring and continued for 15 minutes, which was a major conversation killer since we could barely hear each other. Not specifically the restaurant's fault, but if you want to sit outdoors this could be good to have in mind.
