Ever since I was a kid watching Heidi cartoons, I have known of the existance of this mountain but I never thought I'd get to see it with my own eyes. In real life this mountain is just as awe-inspiring. We were fortunate enough that the day cleared up considerably midway during our visit to Zermatt and we got some good photos of it from the cable car en route to the Glacier Paradise Observatory.
Not so fortunate, however, was that when we crossed 2,500 m I started suffering from altitude sickness and we had to go back down to Zermatt village .... we never made it to the observatory. But still happy be see the Matterhorn in all its stupendous glory.
