We stayed here for a ski trip in February. I found this hotel on TripAdvisor and was impressed by the glowing reviews and the photos of the place. The hotel is beautiful and modern. The breakfast is amazing - we gorged ourselves every morning on fresh OJ, cheeses, meats, and other delights. The main room has a glass floor that looks down on the pool - how cool is that? The service is wonderful - Leni, Thomas and Nicole go out of their way to make your experience a wonderful one.
This hotel is close to the Matterhorn lift, which is very convenient if that's where you want to go. However sometimes I wished we were in a hotel near the center of town, because at night when we'd walk to town and back for dinner, it was a very cold walk. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal to walk a little, but it was insanely cold in February. Also, if you want to go to the other two lifts, it is not so convenient.
I knew from a previous review that the hot tub might only be 30 degrees C (86 F), which I was having a hard time imagining. I'm used to hot tubs being 103 F. I discovered that yes, in fact it is only 30 C. Since I get cold very easily, I figured there was no way I could handle 30 degrees outside in the winter, but managed to I get in and it was OK. Just OK. I wish the water had been hotter. (Not sure if the lower temp is specific to this hotel or if it's a European thing to keep it at a cooler temp.)
We were in the "budget" room, which was still pretty expensive. It was very small, but very nicely decorated (clean, modern design) with plenty of storage space, so we didn't mind. In general the hotels in Zermatt seem to be quite expensive.
Overall, we loved this place.
