“You cannot do better in Zermatt”
Reviewed 28 March 2012

after traveling for 20 hours I was greeted by the front desk staff whom brought me a glass of wine while my bags where taken to my room and the staff checked on if i could get a late dinner from their wonderful restrant upstairs. i was given a nice tour of the facility and escorted to the dinning room. i absolutely loved my room. i also enjoyed all the staff and should probably name them all, but what is great is i was traveling alone and they all made me feel at home and and around freinds, from the front desk staff, the restaurant staff and the outdoor indoor bar staff. sometimes one or two standout in the many hotels i go to, but in this case they all did which says much about the management. my favorite though was Ali Avdi (world cup skier from estonia) and breakfast waiter. Ali gave me tips on where to ski, when to ski, which on mountain restaurants to visit. all was incredible. skiing back to hotel with a stop at the champayne bar just up the hill from the hotel, and then a stop at the hotel's outdoor bar was a great way to finish the day and start the evening. the outdoor bar was clearly a poular spot and i don't think the staff knew i was a guest at the hotel, but they seemed to treat me like a valued customer. the front desk was also very helpful in finding the right evening restaurants for me, all which combined for a truly incredible stay. even with what appeared to be a very poular bar the hotel became extremely quite when it was time to sleep..

Room Tip: book this hotel early, i was not early and feel extremely lucky that they had a room for me. Eric A

It may be a cultural issue, or personal, I do not know, but we were very uncomfortable with the room. The reason: the panel separating the bathroom lets see (at least a little) and listen (very well) who is in the bathroom. It is possible that most guests do not bother with it but we were really bothered. Definitely listen to your partner in the bathroom is nothing romantic. On the day of check in, we asked if all the bathrooms were like ours, and told us they were. We do not discuss more and we conform because we read some criticisms of the Cervo at Tripadvidor, and we saw that most of the time, the criticisms are not well received by staff. We saw some staff answers to customers complaints who are sometimes a bit aggressive (we have the right to say that because this is our truly impression). We decided to put the thing in perspective and do the following: when one of us needed to go to the bathroom, the other went to the porch and waited.
Nevertheless, I must say the hotel is beautiful, well located and the staff was very friendly (well, we did not complained about anything). The price totally worth the location but not worth the room. I would like some changes were made in this direction, because we would love to stay there again (after bathroom improvements, of course).

Dear Guest

Thank you very much for your visit last October 2011. We appreciate your time to give us a detailed feedback of your stay. This will help us to improve our services.

We regret to read that you were not satisfied with your room. Some of our room categories have an open bathroom which can be closed with wooden lamellas. The door of the WC can be closed completely. Many of our customers like the openness of the room. We apologize that this was not the fact in your case. We would also like to apologize for our wrong information at the front desk. Some of our rooms have complete separated bathrooms.

We would be happy to welcome you again in our hotel and our front office team will be glad to assit you to find the perfect romantic room for you.

Best regards from Zermatt

We stayed in the Cervo last summer for a wedding and this hotel is fantastic. I only have positive things to say. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. It was a real home away from home. We will definately return. You pay for what you get...and this hotel is a true gem.

We reserved a Junior Suite for one week during the "off" season (January). The room was beautiful, large and comfortable. But based on online pictures, the smaller rooms do not appear as comfortable and look a bit small. There are very few places in Zermatt with ski in-ski out, so that feature is great. Hotel is a bit out of the way, but it is very easy to get to downtown area via elevator next to hotel. Bar and restaurant are very good but expensive like the hotel. Very few freebies here -- you pay for everything. But we did not think the overall cost was outrageous for Zermatt, especially considering the very high quality of the accommodations, restaurant and staff (who all speak excellent English and usually several other languages). One caveat: do not share a room with someone you do not know well. The bathrooms in the smaller rooms and junior suite are open air with the rest of the room (see pics online) so there is not much privacy.

Room Tip: If you will be there for more than a few days, spend a bit more for the junior suite.

My wife and I booked this hotel last September, bear in mind it is the end of the summer season and not quite the beginning of the winter season,so it was very quiet. For people wanting to see the town of Zermatt it is an easy train ride in and very scenic. If you call ahead to the Cervo they will pick you up at the train station.
We had a small corner room with a lie in bed view of the Matterhorn!WOW!The room was great, ultra modern, but still chalet in feel.Everything in this hotel is done with class.
We had dinner in the hotel,we were actually the only guests in the restaurant but for some reason we did'nt feel wierd! The staff made us feel right at home.Dinner was excellent!!
We had breakfast included in the room rate back in the restaurant, and it was fantastic.
I cannot recommend this hotel and town enough for a fall hiking trip.It is a must see.
Everything gets a 10/10....book it already!
