St Moritz is an expensive place. Ok. We know that. Yet we would have expected at least a decent hotel and good facilities for the price (252CHF).
The only good point was a nice lake view from our room.
Old building: you can hear other clients walking in the room above and talking in the rooms around... Yet if sound passes through the walls easily, the wifi signal does absolutely not: unstable very low speed.
Small bathroom, doors of the tiny shower required delicate attention and time to close properly.
Bar: seems that hotel staff or owner enjoyed their time there, smoking and 3 dogs running around the place.
Restaurant: old fashioned deadly expensive (20€ minimum for basic salad or pasta), yet with no special quality not device attention).

We missed the escalator from the car park so the walk was a a tad longer than it should have been from the train station, but normally it would be 15 minutes. Location is great - about 5 minutes past the cobblestone main part of town. Very quiet in July (actually, the whole town was eerily quiet) but restaurant served a nice meal, good service and our room was small but nice. I wish they had given us a lake view - some of the rooms are high up overlooking the lake - we could see it sideways out our window.
Nice and quiet, cool bar with great bar terrace overlooking the lake. All in all, not fancy, but since we had been hiking all week, we were glad to get a shower and have a clean quiet room!

Room Tip: ask for lake view

Stayed for 2 nights, the room is ok, the bar is a must, but stay away from the Bar if you're a non-smoker. The owner (?) was running the bar and the Grappa he served was fantastic. The Burger is good too and the beers are drafted on an excellent level.
The Restaurant has a great view on the lake and all staff is very friendly.
So I would definitely return...

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lake view, might be pricier but worth it...

Stayed at soldanella for just a night with my family as we were travelling on the glacier express from zermatt . ( plz give this train a miss specially if u r travelling in the summer and take a faster train if u r travelling from zermatt to St Moritz). The family room at soldanella was very spacious and clean , the location is good , however our rooms do not have a very good lake view . Walking down to the lake takes a good 15 minutes but u have the option of taking an elevator down from abt midway..the breakfast was very simple ( expected better from a hotel of this repute) . But St Moritz has many eating options . Wild love to spend some more time at St Moritz to take in all its beauty

Stayed at the Soldanella for 2 nights on our stop thru St. Moritz while on Holiday. Was greeted by Connie upon our arrival who immediately upgraded us to a Lake view room at no charge. The view from our Room was spectacular over looking the Lake and the surrounding Mountains. The room is a nice size with very comfortable Beds and Pillows. Wifi in the room was fast and easy to connect. The Bathroom is a good size with plenty of space to move around. The Hotel has a nice old style Swiss setting with a great ambiance. Breakfast is very good with ample offerings of Meat, Cheese, Breads, Yogurts, and a boiled egg station. With a 2 night stay they give you a Engadin transit card that gives you access to all the local buses, trains, Gondolas, and Lifts. We took advantage of this traveling to Muttos Muragl, as well as the Diavolezza Ski area. Will definitely stay again at Soldanella as it affords a wonderful setting and stay in St. Moritz at a wonderful price. Nicely done!
