The restaurant Murtaröl offers daily from 12 pm to 10 pm stunning genuine products in all its simplicity. Thanks the experienced choice of the owner’s eye, Antonio Walther it is always the quality and the freshness of the product that makes the difference on the serving plate. Huge selection of freshwater and saltwater fish let any seafood lover's heart leap for joy. From oysters in different sizes and provenance over to crustaceans and molluscs, all the way up to fish of all imaginable kinds. The kitchen has high affinity to Italian cuisine and the various perfectly fitting combinations with pasta reminds us that the Italian border is only 25 Kilometres away.
Murtaröl was built as a guesthouse and mail coach station around 1880. Until 1984, the guesthouse has blossomed as a summer activity during fishing season. After that, the property turned into a full year business and developed as a very much successful fish specialties restaurant. Today probably the best fish-outlet in the Alps. Since 1995 Murtaröl is purchased daily fresh saltwater fish and crustaceans at the fish market in Milan which is the piazza number one for fish trade in Europe.
Tip: Have a look to the fish tanks in the Aris fish sale in the back of the restaurant kitchen. Beautiful crayfish, Atlantic lobsters, dull crabs, vicious Mediterranean slipper lobsters, scampi, expensive king crabs, living mountain blue trout, smart chars and much more.

Thank Walter L

Murtaröl serves delicious treats, from tuna tartare over shrimp pasta to lobster, you'll definitely find something you like. Prices are really high, service is good. Definitely recommendable. If warm, try to get a table outside and after dinner, order the small "try out" desserts.

Made special effort to Pre-book table for day of arrival. Setting is lovely and place is quite classy - food overall seems fairly good- ours was good. Service is "efficient", but sadly, lacked any warmth or personality whatsoever. When my wife happened to mention that we were celebrating my 60th birthday, the main waiter never even acknowledged her with a smile - wasn't expecting much really, but a couple of words of recognition would have helped the "good feeling" along a little. Also, it always taints a night out when you have to ask several times for the bill and are ignored and left to wait quite a while for it (don't they want paying!). Shame really, place has much going for it. Had equally good meals elsewhere in valley during our stay, much cheaper and much much friendlier! Try the Sports bar near Sils Maria or Arlas in Silvaplana for good unpretentious value.

Deliciouse food!!! We had a octopus carpaccio, mixed salat, tuna and salmon for starter, everything lovely prepared. For the main we took chateaubriand, which was also in perfect quality. Really friendly staff. Prices were ok, for what we got.

Even if the restaurant is listed under Sankt Moritz, you will need to take the short drive to Plaun da Lej. Nice setting just beside the lake. Seafood is great, staff helpful & friendly, they speak at least German, English and French. Family friendly. Ask the waiter to show the live fish & lobsters in the huge tanks to your kids. Owner greets every single guest during dinner and asks how it's going. I can recommend the Oysters or the starters' buffet as first course, then crab or fish as main course. Everything incredibly fresh (see tanks above...), cooked to perfection and good value for the quality you get. Nice change if you are tired of the Engadin and Italian food, burgers & pizzas served everywhere else. Not cheap, but this is Sankt Moritz area...
