Interesting how different reviewers come away from a place with different impressions. Recent prior reviewers found "excellent service." To me, the brusqueness of the gentleman who was maitre d' was not acceptable. But, he was not alone. My server was no better. She was extremely rude, when my credit card could not final process, and she refused to accept it. I am sure that she input the wrong coding, as Grottino was the only place during my 10 day trip that had the slightest problem. She was totally uncooperative. Funny, as the pizza was good, how these, not so incidental occurrences, spoil your eating experience. For no reason whatsoever. As I began my review, I had saved a business card of another adjoining restaurant, next door, where I ate fondue. The fondue restaurant and pizzeria, and Bellini are part of a small group. Maybe, the restaurant needs hands on management. During my trip it was normally busy, when I passed by during evenings. Clearly, better and more attentive staff would be appreciated.

Impressive interior of the second floor of the restaurant welcomes guests in a cosy wood-decorated atmosphere of a traditional Swiss fonduestübli. Choice of fondue makes everyone comfortable, but do take the Alpträumli special mix with some kirsch-röteli liquor on the side! The bread is placed in a basket that is hung over the table with a handle on the side of the wall that connects the rope to lower down the basket manually - very cool mechanism! Service perfect, food overly amazing, and the atmosphere just so relaxing and apres-ski that I would recommend this place for anyone who would like to put a cherry on top of a nice day of skiing in the beautiful Arosa resort!

The restaurant with its interior decoration looks nice and cosy. We ordered Pizza, a tomato soup, for our daughter spagetthi bolognaise and our son didnt want to eat anything besides ice cream. The food itself was good, the tomato soup even quite delicious. What bothered me was they charge extra if you "share" food. of course if you are a family and your kids didnt finish all and you eat it, they charge separately additional (chf 5.-)... not welcoming at all. i didnt mind the far above average prices for a pizza place (chf 21.- for a prosciutto). but what really bothers me is this way of setting prices that make you think you can't even touch the peppermill without being charged separately. We won't come again.

Have extremely low expectations.
We ordered two pizzas and both had the wrong ingredients. I complained about mine. The owner (or at least the guy who always seemed to be running the place) tried to tell me that "pepperoni" was red and green bell peppers. I told him he was wrong. I think he knew he had no excuse as to why the pizza was wrong, so he had the pizza re-made, but is time instead of pepperoni or peppers it came with salami. Very confusing for an Italian restaurant.
Second complaint is CHF 5.00 for a large glass of water. They try to explain that its mineral water but how are we to know if they don't serve it out of a bottle. Seems like a ripoff scam.
Those two complaints being said..... The pizza was okay even if not the pizza we ordered. More cheesy than an authentic Italian pizza, but after a day of skiing it was good.

If I could award Alpträumli Grottino a zero I would. This was the most arrogant service I have endured in many, many years. Here are some examples:

small margarita pizza with ruccolo = SFr 20.00
small mixed salad = SFr 11.50
small glass of tap water (3 dl) = SFr 3.80
one scoop orange sorbet = SFr 8.50

Pizza was undercooked with chewy cheese and canned tomato sauce, salad was warm and brown, plate was dirty and the staff was rude.

I asked for a second plate to sort out the nasty parts of the salad and they demanded SFr 5.00 for "sharing food"

This place is really the worst of Arosa.
