For my birthday, I was taken here for a suprise and enjoyed this very swiss experience for food, setting and service. The lack of language skills and some of the menu could be challenging for non swiss but is worth it for the experience. I dont want to guess their age, but the serving ladies are ....... mature. Most of the clientele are settled in as if its their own lounge room, and you may have to share a table with others (I like it that a swiss restaurant can be both homely and expensive at the same time!). Swiss food cannot claim to be the healthiest, and this is a temple of carbs, butter (yep, thats why the veges taste good) , all known animal parts & organs and mountainous desserts. Loved my picks of bone marrow in bouillon (decadent!), local lake fish (in butter) and buttered spinach, and sharing a large vermicelles (chestnut paste) meringue concoction with my 2 companions. Husband also fared well with cordon bleu, but neither of us liked the look of the calfs head (fortunately dissected, not whole) of our companion, but each to his or her own, and certainly they pride themselves on traditional dishes here. I am all for experiencing authentic cuisine in a country, and this is definitely it.
