“Honest swiss experience ~ solid and comfortable”
Reviewed 21 December 2011

For my birthday, I was taken here for a suprise and enjoyed this very swiss experience for food, setting and service. The lack of language skills and some of the menu could be challenging for non swiss but is worth it for the experience. I dont want to guess their age, but the serving ladies are ....... mature. Most of the clientele are settled in as if its their own lounge room, and you may have to share a table with others (I like it that a swiss restaurant can be both homely and expensive at the same time!). Swiss food cannot claim to be the healthiest, and this is a temple of carbs, butter (yep, thats why the veges taste good) , all known animal parts & organs and mountainous desserts. Loved my picks of bone marrow in bouillon (decadent!), local lake fish (in butter) and buttered spinach, and sharing a large vermicelles (chestnut paste) meringue concoction with my 2 companions. Husband also fared well with cordon bleu, but neither of us liked the look of the calfs head (fortunately dissected, not whole) of our companion, but each to his or her own, and certainly they pride themselves on traditional dishes here. I am all for experiencing authentic cuisine in a country, and this is definitely it.

“A proper old Swiss restaurant with Swiss specialities which you do not get every where”
Reviewed 29 October 2011

If you would like to experience a very old place then go to the Galliker.
However I would recommend that you do a booking in advance.
You will find unique Swiss specialties. We had venison. It was delicious, well cooked and nicely presented on the plates. They have a great wine selection, especially on Swiss wines for a reasonable price.
The service was very friendly and we have been surprised how fast it was.
Our business friends enjoyed typical Swiss sweets for the dessert: Meringues, Vermicelles and forest berries with ice.
In case you go with your car either park it in the parking house of the coop shopping center or at the car park Kasernenplatz, just at the motorway exit.

“It's like eating at your grandma's house!”
Reviewed 27 April 2011

Been to lucerne many times, but had never been to this lovely restaurant! We went on a quiet Tuesday night and there were only three other tables with people. As soon as we arrived everyone from the restaurant greeted us with smiles, we sat on a table close to the window and we admired all the old photos from previous generations...then the food came and everything was delicious! We had green salads, soups that were ok, and then home made puff pastry filled with mushrooms! YUM! Oh and my father had a cordon blue that he didnt stop eating until it was all gone! All in all the service was great, the food was really good
swiss food, good prices, and the ambiance was quiet, and sort of
kitsch! Recommend it!

“Order the Rosti! Please make reservations!!”
Reviewed 10 May 2010

This is a very charming restaurant that is obviously loved by the locals. It was packed with people the night when we got there and we had to make reservations on the spot for the next night. It is not too difficult to find if you have a map. The food is really quite authentically Swiss and the rosti is oven-crisp perfect. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. We ordered this pork sausage with rosti and veal with buttered noodles. I preferred the rosti but the buttered noodles were smooth and flavourful as well. Highly recommended! It is quite a noisy place though as it is fully packed with crowds.

“Great Swiss Food!”
Reviewed 22 September 2009

What a charming old restaurant! We were seated on a long table with other diners and the food were very Swiss. The waitresses were charming, like an old aunty kind of way, and their recommendation and service were superb. Highly recommend that you make a reservation before hand.
