I stayed two nights at Hotel Falken in Luzern. The hotel is clearly not very cheap compared to European standards but is reasonable for Switzerland.
The room is small but the bed is massive and comfortable. You have a good amount of storage and a small tv. There is a separate bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a sink. Everything was spotless clean.
The hotel was fairly quiet. I heard a few drunks in the streets at night during the week end but nothing alarming.
Service was ok but not over friendly. You can put your luggage after your stay in a locked room for free. They also provide a map and a visitor card for Luzern which is always good.
The location is superb. It is a 5 minutes walk from the train station, on the other side of the bridge. 2 mins for the lake and right in the middle of the historical city centre. It is also a convenient base for those who want to go on the mountains or explore the region. You have plenty of restaurants around although not always cheap. There is also a small supermarket and a few fast foods for those who are on a budget.

Although not being very cheap, this hotel is a cosy and its a 'have it all' accommodation. The staff are very friendly and they are attentive to your needs. The rooms are not very big they have everything: TV, a steady WIFI connection, multiple towels, good and strong plumbing systems, comfortable beds and even a scale...maybe the lights could be a bit more bright. The location is very good, just a 5-10 min walk from the rail station and therefore very central. The hotel also has a spacious lift so taking your luggage upstairs aint a challenge. Also its not noisy as reported by some reviewers and our sleep was very good with no noises to wake us up - it was a very relaxed pleasant stay. To summarize I would suggest this hotel to all those who wish to explore Lucerne and make frequent use of SBB Railway system.

This was a friendly hotel, right in the market place, but rooms are cramped, there is no place to open the suitcases. But room ws clean , so were the bathrooms.

The hotel has no restaurants, but in any case always advisable to buy from supermarket MIGROS just 2 mins away from the hotel , as its a rip off to eat in restaurants in Switzerland.

All in all nice hotel but a little expensive considering that it is a basic hotel with small rooms

Pros : Located in the old town and shopping centre so it is really convenient / Walking distance to the train station and bus stop / Friendly staff

Cons : Very tiny room and shower; not much space to move around / Could hear some noise from the street during the night / The noisy sound from the garbage truck every morning might wake you up.

IMHO: "If you aren't in big shape and not kinda light sleeper, this place is a good choice to start exploring Luzern and nearby."
